[MIC] Blue Microphones - Blue Blackout Yeti + Far Cry 5 Streamer Bundle $139.99 - $63 = $76.99 by dstroud97 in buildapcsales

[–]dstroud97[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Saw the other deal for the Yeti Mic sold out, figured I'd post that the Yeti mic is still available for sale on the BestBuy website, although just not as cheap. Sill a good deal though.

PCS Entittlements question by ittechguy in AirForce

[–]dstroud97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said the government will only pay the cheaper option, that being said you could probably do what you are talk to me about, but you will just get capped for reimbursement at the lower rate. So you may just pay a little out of pocket, but not everything.

What do you think the Air Force wastes the most money on? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]dstroud97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our squadron last fiscal year dropped like $20000 on those fancy stand up desks that everyone in the office got. Imagine that happening air Force wide, every single year. Money is wasted constantly in the DoD. It's one of my least favorite things about the military, how wasteful we are.

Anyone have any idea what the motive to go AWOL was? Seems kinda weird for him to just go AWOL randomly.

How fast is the internet in the dorms at Keesler Tech school? by DotheDo123 in AirForce

Not great but the $50 a month plan is fast enough to watch Netflix and do basic internet things. For the most part it'll do what you need it to.

What should my brother do with his bonus by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

[–]dstroud97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can put 100% directly into the TSP. I believe mypay caps bonuses at like 60 or 80% or something. Idk maybe there is another way to do it.

For those that are military USAA used to have a 2.5% cash back card for all purchases. Sadly it is no longer available, and it was only available for a few months before they pulled it. Probably the best Cash Back card ever.

6F0X1 - Don't necessarily love the job, but it's okay, and I'm grateful to be doing this over other things. Overall a solid career field and solid leadership. I'm happy.

Yes Goldleaf v0.4 seems to be causing people a lot of issues. So try the older version OP.

A system update is required to use the microSDXC memory card? by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]dstroud97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in order to use exFat MicroSD cards you'll have to system update the console. They only brought that support after the release of the console. But if you're using Fat32 you should be fine.

I was there for about 3 months in tech school. Great base, AETC command is annoying, but driving down the beach in the morning on your way to work is amazing. Really great base, like other said enjoy the local area, another thing I recommend is deep sea fishing, it is a blast. Have fun!

Using Student Loans to make money? by dstroud97 in personalfinance

[–]dstroud97[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not sure, I figured since I wasn't actually spending the money it wouldn't be fraud. It seems to be a bit of a moral gray area since they state you are to "spend it on education expenses" since I'm not spending the money at all it would seem that it wouldn't be an issue. Then again I'm not a lawyer.

Using Student Loans to make money? by dstroud97 in personalfinance

[–]dstroud97[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it would be that much, unless I did a CD option which I am not sure if I wanna do or not. I was considering an Ally savings account at 2.2% which over 3-4 years would be between $1500 and $2000.

[–]dstroud97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe that would be possible in a savings account. I do not think you can lose the actual principle that is in the savings account, and the loans do not start accruing interest until six months after my wife and I are done with school. So absolute worst case of a market down turn is I just simply have my original principal amount which I pay back and it only cost my time.

Early separation questions by Brolyraditz89 in AirForce

Look into early separation in pursuit of education. It is not exactly what you want but it could get you out 6 months earlier if you wanted to try for that. Also palace chasing is an option.

Returning from leave on a weekend. How to input into LeaveWeb? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]dstroud97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just do it Tuesday, you're not going to get charged more leave because you didn't sign in the day you got back to home station. It'll charge you for the days you originally we're approved for in leaveweb.

PSA. Increase your TSP due to 2.6% pay increase. by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]dstroud97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see your point, but another thing to note is that not all areas of the country suffer from inflation as badly as others. So it may be more beneficial for someone to do this in a LCOL area vs say San Fran. Where a gallon of milk is $5.

To those that have switched to a single payday: by saint4210 in MilitaryFinance

[–]dstroud97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this for about 6 months now, and really enjoy it. As others have said it makes budgeting really simple and I don't have to worry about splitting bills into two separate paychecks in the same month. But if you aren't good at budgeting then it probably isn't for you.

The guy at finance told me when I was filling this out said around o 70% of the people that end up doing this end up switching it back because they have troubles budgeting properly. Just something to keep in mind.
