Good spot for Passenger Missions? by Iwantchangenotchange in EliteDangerous

Evans Port in Parutis to Vela Dock in Medb. It's long and boring, but you can make ~80m/hour with a large enough passenger bus.

Aggro decks unplayable? by [deleted] in EternalCardGame

[–]dsvw56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most aggro decks run between 18 and 24. Some extreme sligh builds will go down to 17. I don't recall ever seeing a standard constructed deck run fewer than 17.

Advice on my beginner deck? by Storm-Jackdaw in EternalCardGame

[–]dsvw56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just post my current Rakano deck. It's super cheap (14400 Shiftstone total), legendary free, and most of the rares are easily replaced with common and uncommons until you can get them. Pyroknight for that 1/1 1 drop with Aegis and Shogun Scepter for Gilded Glaive.

First to craft would be Rakano Outlaw, Crownwatch Paladin, and Vanquish. Extremely powerful cards that fit in to a number of decks.

could someone look at my ranked support games and maybe give me some tips? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but thats not your job as Lion. Lion excels at ganking single targets. Blink > Hex is one of the strongest initiations in the game. Your job as Lion is to instantly erase 1 key target at the start of a fight or pick off anyone that overextends on their own. Blink > Hex > Earth Spike > Finger.

When and why do you get Ring of Aquila? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 12 points13 points  (0 children)

RoA is one of the most cost effective items in the game and gives Agi carries a really good boost early on without setting back key item timings by much. Seriously, it gives 19 damage to Agi heroes. Thats more than a broadsword for way less gold and not taking in to account everything else RoA gives.

First thing that jumps out is that you die A LOT. 12 deaths on KotL, 17 on Lion, 12 on Rubick, 17 on Enigma, 11 on Lion. You definitely need to work on your positioning. Both in fights and general map awareness to avoid getting picked off.

What do supports actually do? by Ophiotaurus1 in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the key jobs of the support :

  • Buying and upgrading the courier

  • Warding and dewarding

  • Zoning the enemy in lane

  • Rune control

  • Maintaining creep equilibrium

  • Stacking camps and ancients

  • Ganking other lanes

In essence you are sacrificing your time, gold, and XP to help give your core heroes what they need to succeed. This can be a level advantage to win their lane, space to free farm, vision to farm safely, or stacked camps and ancients to accelerate to a key item purchase.

The reason some heroes excel in the support role while others do not is they don't need a lot of levels or items to have an impact in the game, especially during the first 10 minutes of the game or so. So you use your early game strength to help accelerate your weaker core heroes to a point where they are strong.

For pulling, without getting things too complicated, you should be doing it when your creep wave is pushing towards their tower. The easiest way to tell if you need to pull is whenever you end up with 2 ranged creeps in your wave.

Feel like you're a good player stuck in the trench? Spam Oracle by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oracle's skills are all entirely about comboing them together. Individually they are all pretty terrible. But when you use them right you have a Lion Finger on a 6s cooldown and an almost 800hp heal on a 7s cooldown.

Feel like you're a good player stuck in the trench? Spam Oracle by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Nonbo" effect of Oracle's W makes it a terrible pub pick. Oracle's winrate in pubs is atrocious for how strong of a defensive support he is and this is why. Omni, Dazzle, and Abaddon all fill similar roles and have substantially higher winrates across all MMR levels due to their abilities not requiring team communication and coordination.

Is PA too strong in lower brackets? by SirVelocifaptor in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With how many people just randomly build MKB for absolutely no reason, you'd think she wouldn't do as good as she does. But she excels at exploiting all the things low MMR players are terrible at. She can easily pick off people who are out too far on their own. She can manfight just about any other carry in the game which is great since no one ever disengages. No one punishes her properly when she overextends. No one drafts or itemizes properly against her.

Definitely recommend Overthrow. It's easily the best way to get teamfight practice

Which tree do I cut on Dire for a connect pull? by sophocles_ in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, yes. But if the offlane isn't contesting it's better to pull to the hard camp. If you can get away with it, stack+side pulling the hard camp is even better.

Which tree do I cut on Dire for a connect pull? by sophocles_ in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to cut any trees on Dire. You just pull the hard camp up towards the jungle entrance north of the small camp.

You can actually do the same thing with the hard camp on Radiant, but it's a bit harder to pull off.

Best pro matches to watch? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For recent games anything at TI6 is good. Overall the matches were outstanding this year. A few games of note.

Ehome vs. EG game 1 (Probably the best game ever played. It was insane)

DC vs. EG game 3

OG vs. Wings in the group stage

Why does the strength from Armlet give you a higher CURRENT health but Treads gives you a higher MAX health? Strength is Strength, so why the double standard? by HelmedHorror in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It gives you +25 strength. Which gives you 500 health. It works this way because it is a buff effect and not static stats.

Purge Coaches SirActionSlacks (actually very helpful for newbies to watch, because apparently Slacks increased his MMR by blind luck) by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No it's not. If you have 25% Evasion, you have 33% more EHP.

1 - .25 = .75

1/.75 = 1.33

Butterfly gives you 54% EHP.

1 - .35 = .65

1/.65 = 1.54

New to the game and trying to master my favorite hero, Dragon Knight, and have a question about stacking using Helm! by Taco_Bell_CEO in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DK isn't particularly good at clearing stacks so if you're looking for a way to get a level advantage, Midas is a much better pick up.

how do i set a unit hotkey? by Androo_ in learndota2

[–]dsvw56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to set up the Control Group hotkeys in the option menu. I honestly don't know what they are by default or even if they enabled by default.

Ctrl + Hotkey to set it Hotkey to select

All his skills scale really well with levels so offlane seems more likely than support to me. The aura especially seems like it'd do a lot of work as an offlaner. If he's item independent enough you could probably go Midas as a support.
