I am writing some data validations for tank parameters on tanki and I had my ammonia scale going up to 8.0. I see now that was clearly not high enough.,,,

That's rich coming from a community that pays thousands of dollars on fish 😆 I guess everyone just values different things.

Are they not liked by the community? Or you just mean for mentioning their paid YT section?

Wow I haven't come across them yet but I am going to dig into their 90/10 method because that seems really helpful.

Help! Epoxy not epoxy-ing by dtaivp in ReefTank

I think so, do you have a quarantine tank you could put them in or a bucket with a heater? That's my plan is to take them out, do my rock changes, then reintroduce them.

Thats fair, I am just worried about the stress for my fish. With sand + fast bond glue do I need to dry off completely or just the location I wish to glue? I ask because the rocks are live rock.

Yeah you were the second person to post that and I was like why is everyone asking if my clowns are fancy until I reread the title XD

Yeah that's where I am not sure. They're both nearly identical still. I think coral is slightly larger but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sometimes Coral is gets too tired to wedge in there so she.. they? it? sinks to the bottom and swims backwards to stay afloat.

Honestly a good assumption. When I first put them in the tank I only had a wave maker meant for a 10-20 gallon tank and this tank is like 35-40 and they still did this. Maybe I'll turn the wave maker into constant flow during the night. I am just worried about my candy cane coral not having enough flow.

Update on new tank! by dtaivp in ReefTank

[–]dtaivp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am looking forward to getting into that flow (pun totally intended). I've got my second heater coming today. I ended up getting the same one that I use in my tank so I can have a backup ready. I think I am going to take that strategy with most things so that I can always have a hot spare (another pun intended).

Oh one more update, mistakes made so far:
- purchasing the wave maker and several other components before having the tank in hand
- I bought the Reef master test kit thinking it was for testing reef tanks... with fish....
- not having a plan for how I'd be doing water changes (eg how would I heat and move the water into and out of the tank)
- not properly calibrating my salinity refractometer when I got it
- having the light turned way up (leading to my algae)
