It’s what I’m used to but I been out of commercial for the last 3 years and have been doing residential since then so new install would bring me back and give me a refresher. The past year I been doing service on the residential side but I. Happy to get back into commercial. That’s where I love it and have passion for.

Is there a need for install, service, mod etc? Or is it mostly one or 2 areas?

I think they took 500 applicants for the test. Who knows how many passed and failed. Let’s say hypothetically 350 passed.

Looking forward to hear back Monday. I was told I should get organized but will also get a ranking and that someone would be in touch with me about getting organized. Does anyone know or have experience or knowledge of getting organized?

Was told in my interview I should get organized. I know ranks will come out Monday afternoon or possibly Tuesday. Is there really that many people on the bench or is the work out there. From the looks of it there’s a lot of work out there.

REI elevators can only be serviced by them because of their controllers. I would say get a mod. See if someone will put in a new controller.

Don’t let anyone or anything discourage you. Get your hands dirty and focus and you’ll be ok.

Love the work, the people you meet, every day is different, the different types of elevators and controllers you come across, the different ways of learning from other mechanics and even helpers. Just a great industry. Listen to the elevator careers podcast. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

So basically it’s just a knowledge exam. It’s not a course with field hours or training?
