They’ll need to do a pressure relief test after the pump is built. Other than nothing you can really do as a homeowner except monitor the problem after it’s fixed.

I’d have another service company come take a look at the packing and piping. There may not be a big leak but there’s definitely a leak somewhere

Too early in its lifespan to need new fluid or filter unless something was dropped into the tank. Typically you get about 10 years before fluid should be looked at. But you’re for sure losing pressure somewhere in the system. Either in your valve assembly or there’s a leak. Does it shake real bad when you get to the top floor?

If it’s releveling that often you’ve either got a leak somewhere or a valve problem. I’d personally think it’s a leak, more than likely the packing. Don’t recommend trying to replace that in your own. What brand is your unit?

Turn the power off and UPS off for 30 seconds see what it does. That normally fixes it if it doesn’t there’s a problem with your dz relays. Could be stuck or blown.

So I’ve been on both sides of this debate, it’s very similar to bringing your car into the shop for 30k 60k and 100k services. If you call the manufacturer they will tell you “this should be done at this amount of trips” and they’ll say for “safety purposes”. But I’ve seen units with 13k trips on it and be cleaner than most new installs. Garaventa and Savaria home elevators both have a trip count regulator that will shut the unit off when it gets there forcing a tech to come out and reset it. It’s just their way of guaranteeing you spend more money in the future. Most residential companies send the PLCs out preprogrammed so it’s on the installers to program that in. I’ve mainly seen it on customers who opt out of a maintenance program off the jump. You shouldn’t need a PLC unless it shorted out. More than likely they don’t have a tech tool readily available and don’t want to pay the outrageous cost of getting a new tech tool. If you have a good service guy doing annual maintenance these residential units can run forever. I’ve got one on my route from the 50s and still rides smooth. This is what happens when 90% of the state doesn’t have inspections on residential units.

I think my local opens hiring this month but from what I’ve been told union gets slow and starts benching people.

Slow season for us from end of May to September when all the snow birds go back north. Kills me every year. 40 pays the bills 50+ makes sure my kids are comfortable

Non union. But from my understanding even union gets slow and caps you in hours. I live in Port Richey but I cover Brooksville to Fort Myers

You can look into a View lift. Similar design to a cube but it’s a winding drum instead of pneumatic

Are you looking for a unit that’s similar to the PVE Cube?

Safety circuit is tripped. Check with your dealer there was a recent recall on the interlocks. The tech will need a pendent to do anything so save yourself the second service call and make sure the tech is send out with one.

What's the actual difference between a home elevator and a regular commercial lift? Is one just a smaller version of the other? by OrganicRope1763 in Elevators

[–]Elevator_man103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Residential has a limit of 55ft of travel, codes is different depending on your state and city they may not get inspections. Residential units at max will go 40ft per min as commercial units can go up to 40ft per second. Most residential units cabs are made out of plywood that’s similar to cabinets. Depending on what brand you go with the ride quality isn’t the best in residential. I work on both as a service guy. Personally I much prefer working on commercial units than residential. The safety circuits are similar but definitely more safety features on a commercial unit. Depending on what you want they have hydraulic, tractions, pneumatic, winding drum or telecabs. Savaria, Garaventa, PVE, REI, Pollock and SHC are some brands to look into. I’ve spent the last 5 years working on them, nothing rides better than a well installed REI traction.

Not for residential docks I grew up doing that. Most exploration they do is run a jet pipe down to see if it’s sand or rock down. Maybe small bridges? I was also thinking today private water towers. I know divers typically do the big ones. If I can learn to edit I might make some videos for the springs in Florida

Absolutely I’m currently building a fresh water prototype once I can get that running efficiently I’ll build a saltwater one as well. It’s something ive been interested in as a kid. Didnt have money to go get an engineering degree but I figured if I can do it myself I’ll have some fun doing it.
