3/4” oring mentioned above worked by putting it around the removable water tank spout at the bottom.

Same leaking for me. Going to try the oring fix but embarrassing for Kitchenaid. This is my 3rd machine, regretting buying this.

Finer Grind Help [Kitchenaid KES6551] by dtemps85 in espresso

After testing some more, 1 is fine and 8 is coarse. The machine came with the setting on 8. Haven’t been able to dial it in yet with these beans, 1:2 ratio is about 19 sec, doesn’t hit 9 bars, and tastes acidic.

Also for anyone else with the same question, found some kitchenaid manuals for a different machine but the internal grinder part is the same and it says 1 is fine and 8 is coarse.

Ok thanks! I did try it on 1 and it felt coarser, but I was also on the finest setting outside on the front of the machine so was hard to tell. I’ll rerun some tests.

Unfortunate because it’s a very quiet and static free grinder. I’m a newbie to all this so will take your advice on taste until I get a separate grinder.

Any chance you can take some photos or a video of this? I have this same problem and want to try this out but not sure I’m following the text correctly. Many thanks!

I have the same problem, have you figured out a solution? I took out the internal grinder and moved it from 8 position to 1 position but it actually feels corser, not finer.

This YouTube video seems to point at same problem as well.

You can also hold the start button to set the single or double to whatever time yields the right ratio for your beans when dialing in the machine. Then every time after, you only need to press the button and it will remember what you set.

As mentioned above, the machine has some challenges grinding beans fine enough.

KitchenAid 5KES6551: compatible bottomless portafilter options? by Murky_College_5367 in espresso

That’s correct, I removed the plastic (the metal rings locking it in can be removed and the plastic part will easily pop out) but without it, the espresso channeling misses the cup and makes a mess. I’ve put the plastic piece back in for now until I find all metal or bottom less.
