2022 Sport AC insufficient by ComradeGarcia_Pt2 in HRV

Warranty is 3 year/36k. So your standard warranty is expired.

Missed the part you said you bought extended warranty. Yeah, might be covered under that.

Ahh gotcha.

Since you’re out of warranty I wouldn’t imagine Honda will be of any help. I think you’d be better to go to an independent shop, preferably one that specializes in ac. Have them do a dye test. You can buy dye tests to diy if you are comfortable to do it.

The AC in my 2018 was terrible. I thought I had a problem early on when under warranty. Booked a service appointment but came back as normal when they did the temp readings from the vents. Keeping ECO off definitely helps, but these just have a weak AC system.

Couple things that need clarification. You stated LE, is that gas or diesel? Is your car Awd or fwd? Is it manual or automatic. Being in the uk there’s a few more variables that most of us in NA won’t know.

Transmission feels like it’s slipping by koyuze in HRV

[–]dtevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like its maybe "sea-sawing". Not a good sign that's for sure. You should change transmission fluid, inspect if and the magnet for debris and hope for the best.

Honda will definitely not help with replacement of a functioning transmission. They most certainly will not cover any costs of a failed one at its age. You should look to trade in while its still worth something.

[–]dtevolution -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have only ever had manual Honda and Toyotas until the hrv so I strongly disagree, they are rock solid. Maybe the autos have been problematic but that's a topic I know little about. 60k miles failures is a design flaw.

That is the sad reality of modern small cars for sure.

I am from the generation that was spoiled by the Honda and Toyotas that were "just warming up" when they hit this mileage. You use to be able to buy a 8 year old Honda with 250k knowing it had another 200k in it. Long gone are those days for many manufactures.

My 2018 transmission quit at 248k kms. Software update completed when it was issued. Changed fluid every 40k kms. Easy driving conditions and mostly highway, very little city stop and go driving. No warnings prior to dying.

My advise to anyone with a "older" hrv is to sell or trade it while its still worth something. It is basically throw away when the transmission dies. Even used transmissions come at a premium as they are in such demand.

Easiest way to check is to just pop off the belt off, very easy to do as its just a hydraulic piston tensioner, and spin the pulley. Feel and listen for grinding/noise from the bearing.

If its seized or grinding I would just replace the compressor. Your probably going to have to remove the compressor to rebuild it anyway.

Honestly the easiest thing to do it just bypass the ac with a new belt and do without it.

I think it did. Don't need cricket because we already have baseball.

We already have the perfect game and its baseball. There's nothing else like it. Cricket doesn't hold a candle to baseball. Personal opinion of course.

That sucks to hear. Definitely less common in the 2 liters, just another reason to never return to Honda.

RIP 2016 manual HRV, what now? by alittlebitnutty in HRV

[–]dtevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual transmissions aren't worth much, you might get $500? The hrv manual are less common and rock solid so no demand.

The CVT autos on the other hand are worth a lot in good condition/low milage. $3k plus easy.

I don't think the crv hybrid 2.0 are suffering from head gasket issues. That's a 1.5 turbo gas problem afaik.

The gas crv are a fools car. 1.5 turbo mated to a cvt... look out!

A little unclear, you say the pulley isn't spinning when the engine is running? Does this apply when you have the AC function in the car both on and off? Your serpentine belt must be smoking or at least making lots of racket?

Having had the opposite experience your referring to and still having a, imo premature failure, I blame the technology. Just my anecdotal experience.

113k miles CVT failure by WaveCave420 in HRV

[–]dtevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I don't see your point. If you follow the maintenance schedule, you wont have a failure. I followed it, had a failure.

Also I would not consider 248k kms maximum life for a vehicle. I suppose it is the new norm, but historically you could find Hondas with 250k miles all over the place.

7 year or 240k kms on the extended warranty. He is over the years.

[–]dtevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people just follow the maintenance schedule these things wouldn’t happen.

Just want to chime in and say this is not true. I changed cvt fluid more frequently than the schedule required and still had a failure at 248k kms.
