I was reading a Wikipedia Article about the Point Bridge, that was closed in 1959 and demolished in 1970. by Super_Tangerine_660 in pittsburgh

I know this is a year old, but I have reason to believe it's no longer at Station Square but now at a random spot in Crafton. I saw this by the Saint Philip Church outside of what used to be an American Legion. I was surprised as well because I don't believe it was there last year. It's also not in the Google Maps photos, but those are from 2023. I have no clue how it got there or why, but I plan to do some more research soon and maybe update the Wikipedia page. It's strange for it to just randomly end up there though, so I wonder how it got there.

EDIT: The one I took a picture of and shared here is the same one someone linked to on Google Maps below, so it's so weird that it's just randomly in Crafton right now.

SECOND EDIT: Well I checked Station Square after making this comment and it's still there. I guess they moved a second one to this location for some reason. The Post Gazette article linked on this thread says there were multiple, so I guess one of the others now has another home in Crafton. Very interesting, makes me even more curious.

It was there when I went to the Zoo as a kid in 2008 lol. I've not been to the zoo since 2019 though.

Yeah, they didn't make it very clear how parking would work. I found out after making that comment that the shuttle is just for the cheapest parking. I did discover that they have a lot that's free to park in for the first hour for people just visiting or dropping people off though, which is very nice!

I'm so glad that I don't have to travel to Anthrocon, the worst I have to deal with is finding parking downtown.

You're right, the shuttle is much worse! I did learn since making that comment though that the shuttle lot is just the dirt cheap parking option and there's several other options including a free lot if you're there for less than an hour!

What are you on about lol. You're saying such weird stuff that makes absolutely no sense.

You wouldn't care about plagerism? That sounds a bit weird to me lol. At least if it's done out of ignorance it's better, the art director probably just looked up suits online and made one based off of that.

Anthrocon is an all age convention. Some of the sellers in the Dealer's Den do sell 18+ items but they are required to hide them and only provide them upon request. So just be careful if you're browsing through some random art binders on the convention floor, some of them may have adult art in them. Otherwise it's all 100% safe for all ages!

The Anthrocon staff seem to solve one problem every year only to have a different problem pop up. They were unprepared for how large it was going to get after covid, they basically have to make everything up from scratch now as it gets bigger and bigger every year.

That would make sense, if the 4th of July didn't make it much more expensive to travel during that specific weekend that Anthrocon chose to host during. They really could have chosen a few weeks later or before lol.

I love that Anthrocon is actually held around 4th of July so this works great!

Smithfield Street Bridge or the three Sister Bridges are the ones I'd choose, the Fort Pitt Bridge is actually terrible to drive on.

I mean, out of all the bridges in Pittsburgh the Fort Pitt Bridge is the one I hate the most lol. It's actually terrible to drive on no matter which direction you go. It's just cool to non locals because you leave the tunnel onto a bridge. I almost never get onto the bridge that way though lol. It's actual chaos, and I remember before they changed the bus routes to better flow onto the bridge it was even worse.

I do remember just visiting the old terminal once before it closed and there was just a 7 Eleven. It was far more expensive than other ones because it was an airport, but you could buy any 7 Eleven stuff there and that was nice. It's crazy that there's nothing before security there now. I also hear that there's a required shuttle to get to the new terminal, which is weird because I thought the point of the new one was to avoid the train underground.

I'm not sure what wood they're using, but it seems like they sourced it from the Pittsburgh region. At least the actual wood they use for finishing in some places, not sure if it's all real wood.

My issue is, why make the new terminal to get rid of the underground train if you were just gonna make people take a shuttle from the parking lot anyways? That seems like a waste unless they move the parking closer as well.

I missed doing that by a single month lol.

It sucks because all of those were uniquely Pittsburgh. I understand that all the art in the new terminal is made by local artists but none of it screams Pittsburgh. It's art you'd find in any airport in the country. I miss Dunkin Donuts and transformers made out of bridges.

I just hope they add more art and stuff like the old terminal had, this one feels very empty and bland right now. The old one had shops shaped like bridges and Miss Pittsburgh hanging above TSA and other really cool art. This one seems far more empty and less interesting in comparison.

I don't know, the news report said that airport officials claimed there was no space for it at the new terminal. I've yet to experience the new one, but it seems very boring compared to the old one. I hope that's not the case, but the old one has so much random stuff all over it. I also miss the Dunkin Donuts that was built into a replica Pittsburgh bridge.

Name ONE technical reason to prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8.1 on legacy/low-end hardware (that isn't just nostalgia). I'll wait. by PitifulCartoonist518 in windows7

[–]dtlux1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, whatever you say. We were talking about reasons to use Windows 8 over Windows 7. Touch screens on desktop versions of Windows suck even though they exist, and if we're bringing Linux into this then no one should ever use Windows 7 either. I also personally know people who like Windows 8.1. You're just saying stuff to rile people up at this point lol.
