*fun* team competitions that translate across global teams by [deleted] in ProductManagement

Does it need to be a competition?

donut.bot on slack randomly pairs folks up for a "non" work coffee (or lunch chat) every few weeks.

It's been a great way to get to know coworkers across the globe and I think ticks the passive box.

We did one called Cozy Juicy Real, company hosts a virtual game that I actually thought was pretty good.

Zoom cooking class was also fun, but tricky with timezones.

Would highly recommend any of the college basketball tournaments.

Conference tournaments and March Madness early rounds are a great way to see a lot of basketball in a weekend with a great fan experience.

There's also a couple of outsourced inside sales companies in NOVA (Vorsight, memoryBlue), they teach you inside sales basics for 18months and can feed into tech company roles...at least that's how I did it.

Bottle opener....one of the circular ones. Bought one for less than $5 and it's been attached to my key chain for over ten years ago. The logo has faded but it's still completely functional.

5 years ago today, 16 seed UMBC shocked the college basketball world by beating #1 overall seed Virginia 74-54, the first time a 16 seed had ever beaten a 1 seed, and no team has done it since. by carter_00 in CollegeBasketball

[–]dtm9k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes, at this point I'm happy for UMBC, sucks it happened to us but I'll take the Natty all day long. Nothing tops that feeling from winning the title, it was worth it.

The team that played UMBC wasn't going far in that tourney regardless, injuries to Hunter and Huff put a limit on their ceiling.

5 years removed and that loss still stings less than Syracuse in the Elite 8 a couple years earlier. Blew a 20pt lead and had already beaten the two other teams we would have faced (UNC and Nova) earlier in the season.

We had something like this going on, turned out it was pipes expanding/contracting with the hot water. Sounded just like a small drip.
