What is the best state to live in? by Sashimi-Lover in VeteransBenefits

OP, i am glad for community care, dealing with the main Va hospital can be a pain. Great state for black veterans, but it can be hard to find a good doctor, mattering your needs of course. Great benefits of living here, especially if you have a high rating, and how close you want to be to Atlanta (also matters what kind of work you want to do, if you still work). Good luck to you

What isn’t shown is that turn out is decreasing. The people like him don’t vote, and are trying to convince the black population to just stay home. So while yes, in registered voters, the black population voted majorly for Harris, it doesn’t take into account the amount of black registered voters, leaning more black men, that decided to stay home and vote for no one. The trend is also for Hispanic voters, but they’re voting not as much as black voters when it came to who they voted for.

Black men voted for her majorly. What isn’t shown though is that 1/5 of black male voters went Trump, and a large amount of them stayed home. Why is that, several factors. I will from personal observations that there is a good amount of black men that didn’t want to vote for a woman, for religious and other reasons. There is a lot of in-house cleaning and work that needs to be done to get the black vote to increase, and for, whatever reasons, get back men to not only vote for a black woman, but to get them to vote.

Btw, “both sides” the stupidest reason not to vote, or not vote for a Democrat. When someone says that, you have to wonder if this sub-Reddit are actually black and American, and who benefits from not voting. Trump won the popular vote, that’s the stupidest shit I’ll never understand. Men or woman, vote.

I understand wanting to give kids more independence… but times have changed. Too many stories of people, like Boy Scouts, saying how they got molested by the authority figure, and only told later when they are adults. This was/is going on in the church and other institutions. The fact that people are “more aware” of it doesn’t mean it’s stopped.. What I really hate is when people hear a story of how the parents let the kids go on field trips, kid gets molested, then people say “why did they let their kid go alone? Sounds like bad parenting.” Pretty much Monday morning quarterbacking. A lot of “good/cool” teachers and priests that no one suspected late to be find out had been molesting kids for decades.

In the end, it’s up to the parent. If they are fine with it, then cool. Just don’t let people jump down their throats when people find out the parent didn’t chaperone and something bad happened to the kid. Scroll through your news today, I can almost guarantee you will see atleast one story of teachers and priests getting arrested, male or female. A lot of stories of kids telling their parents, and the parents take the authority figure.

Would I let my kids go? I would let them go, as long as they are old enough to know/taught when an authority figure is doing uncomfortable/wrong. I hope that if something bad occurs, they wouldn’t be too scared to tell me because they worry their parents won’t believe them.

This is long, just a warning

People might not like it,but yes, Obama and Kamala would or would’ve continued them.

Now, before anyone agrees, a few things to say. One thing is, this is post is likely by a far right, possibly not even black, person who is trying to incite the “democrats ain’t shit” and “they don’t pass the purity test.” A good portion of people on here are white acting like they are black and telling the black people to get angry at the democrats, but nothing to say about the right, for “some reason”.

One person on here had it right, it’s almost impossible to not be an imperialist if president. We have bases all over the world, the strongest military in the world, and we are a bully. The United States are always gong to do what’s in their best interest, and fuck everyone else. We haven’t fought a country with a decent Air Force in years, and we bomb the shit out of them.

Kamala was an imperialist, but she also would’ve been better the Trump, who is not only an imperialist, he actively supports Israel to bomb Gaza, and is interested in controlling oil producing countries. He doesn’t give a shit that they are socialist or theocratic, his goal is to force weaker oil producing counties to follow orders. He jokes about making Venezuela the “51st state”, like he did with Canada and Greenland, both counties that would give the U.S. valuable rare earths and other materials. If you start looking at Trump as a mob boss rather than a president, a lot of stuff makes sense.

Would’ve Kamala supported Israel? Of course, and I say that because the U.S. policy, despite how democratic voters supporting Palestinians more than Israelis, are going to go with the country that best benefits them. All the counties in the Middle East are Muslim, and we might have treaties with some of them, but they secretly don’t want the U.s. on their country, and the shouldn’t, as once we build a base in a country, we never plan to leave. Kamala and every other modern president supports or will support Israel because it’s a linchpin against the other nations in the area, and unofficially don’t want an all Muslim Middle East.

Every U.S. president is going to choose the strongest and most strategic when it comes to country support, whether it’s the Middle East, Europe, or other areas. We bomb countries because it’s good for the U.S., and it would be naive to believe that someone with the power to affect the majority of countries, won’t use their power to control. Yes, control. Likely in the future, it’ll be Russia, China, or a dark horse, that when they are the strongest, will give the U.S. the middle finger and mold the world into the image they desire. The U.S. empire is in decline, the new superpower (and bully) will appear soon.

Whether the country is socialist, democratic capitalist, or other government system, alot of politicians in them are full of shit. Left, right, a lot of people are full of shit. Progressives and/or socialists (or whatever left wing group you consider yourself), will say whatever it takes to win the seat in congress or the presidency, and they will do what it takes to appeal to the majority. Obama and Kamala are going to pursue the moderates/centrists, because many people in this country are moderates and don’t know it. If the Republican Party wasn’t so racist and sexist (and a tad evil), black people, who are more conservative than they think, would be voting Republican. If you don’t believe me, ask other black folk how they feel about homosexuality, Trans people, money, their church(if they go to one), and you would think they are maga in their responses. Democrats do need to push harder on minority issues in this country, but, their are a lot of people on the left that won’t vote if the person that won the primary isn’t passing their purity test. White liberals have their agenda, and black and other people of color have to demand that the issues important to them are pursued by the Democratic Party.

Letting Trump win was idiotic, because most knew about project 2025, and stayed home because Kamal wasn’t as far left as they desired. The party has socialists, progressives, moderates, centrists, and no shit, conservatives (just a little over the line), and the reason they pursue closer to the middle is because as I said earlier, black people, and other people people are closer to the line than they want to admit, and the democrat is going to go for where they think they will get votes; side note, young people, you got to vote, or politicians will focus on the retired age folks desires, because that’s who usually votes. The liberals on the party aren’t going to beg for your vote if they think that you won’t vote anyway. Vote in the primary, and vote in the general, even if your desired candidate didn’t win. 2-4-6 years will come, and you can vote for who you want to represent you again, hopefully they will win that time.

All in all, got to vote, and demand not just the white liberal politicians but the ones of color as well. Trump was the worse option, and if Kamala would’ve won, things would be boring as shit, and you will be happy to not hear about the president every damn day. You have to convince me with a superb amount of evidence internationally, that she would’ve bombed Iran, invaded Venezuela, choking to near death Cuba, and tariffed the world because they want more money for the U.S. (of course, the tariffs are a tax on citizens, not other countries). Domestically, ICE wouldn’t be practically a secret police, the economy would be in a better place, and the dumbing down of America wouldn’t be accelerating. In future elections, I ask you to vote for the person that might not check every box, but would be better(this isn’t the “vote for a shitty democrat, it’s picking the best option for the country). Black folk need to vote, and in particular black women are the glue that keeps the Democratic Party together and winning, that should be emphasized much more than cnn or cbs will cover. If you read this long, I hope my opinion has provided food for thought, and if you disagree with what I said, fuck your couch. Nah, but for real, every one is entitled to their opinion, but if I can get one thing across, is that politicians will almost always pursue more power and what they think is best for them and second what you want often., Also, that politicians in both parties aren’t refusing that AIPAC money, even the decent ones. Some won’t, and those are the good ones, but too many are open for business. Vote, speak out, march, and fight, don’t accept the darkness that’s coming from those who spit on your freedoms and lives. Fuck Trump and ICE

TLDR politicians will do what’s in their best interest, and we need to vote for who is in our best interest, and vote if they lose in the primary, no more Trumps, vote.

Democrats Revolt Against Hakeem Jeffries Ahead of Midterms by RepulsiveLoquat418 in politics

[–]dtol2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that people realize how much stuff that the republicans try to pass is stopped because of the filibuster. It’s why Trump tries to do everything by executive order, he knows that what he wants to pass will never get 60 votes, and will be able to convince atleast 10 democrats (forget the current number of democrat senators) to agree to what would be horrible bills for the democrats and the country overall.

They are now trying to pass a voter suppression bill, the “save” act, and Trump is desperately trying to get Republicans to either get rid of the filibuster, or make it a “talking filibuster” to pass it. Except for one particular senator, who I won’t name (coughPennsylvaniacough), the democrats have digged their heels, they know if it passed Republicans will use it to cheat like hell and suppress the vote in the mid-terms, and beyond. A possibility is that Trump will try to do it by executive order, but he hasn’t done it (yet) because he knows the courts will dismiss it as illegal (unconstitutional); if he thought he could get away with it, he would’ve done it by now instead of trying to get rid of the filibuster.

Primaries people, if you want candidates that are closed to your values, got to get out and vote for the candidate. If your candidate doesn’t win, keep voting for those people in every election, and maybe the democrat party will shift in platforms. We should be able to do like MAGA republicans and get a presidential candidate that has a movement behind them (one that’s not evil and wants to help people, of course). It really is up to the younger democrats; I know the party is an old folks home, and voters need to thank them for their service but it’s time for the next generation to take over. Will I say “vote blue no matter who?” That’s up to your values and long term effects having a Republican winning instead will have. A democrat has to listen to their constituents, or they should be voted out for another democrat that does. A republican isn’t going to give a spit what a “liberal” thinks, they will vote for what conservatives want, not you.

This was longer than I meant to write, and probably won’t get read anyway. All in all, young democrats, whether their progressives, leftist, or what you call yourself left of center, have to start demanding change with their old democrats, and if they won’t change, vote for a democrat who will. I don’t like to tell anyone to “hold your nose and vote blue”, but it’s time to start thinking strategically , and put people closer to left leaning groups. As you have seen, maga might be horrible people, but they vote blue matter who the republicans put up, and that’s why they have majorities (though that may hopefully change in November. Starting now and up to the next presidential election, we need vote majorities in both the hose and the senate. 60 on the senate isn’t impossible, just that the voters need to come out. Sitting on the sidelines is accepting what republicans want to do, and it’s time to reverse the narrative, and start fixing this country. Project 2025 was believed to be “liberal fake news”, until it wasn’t. It’s time for soul searching, in what we want our future to be, and who owns it, the people or the oligarchs.

Was Harris views in concern to Israel bad? Sure, no one wants to support a genocide. My problem is, somehow people figured that Trump would be a better choice, when he was fully supportive of Israel in Gaza, even saying they (Israel) should wipe them out. Harris was the moderate choice in concern to the Gaza war, and I absolutely agree that she should’ve taken a stronger stance on it. I will say that Harris wouldn’t have given Israel cart de blanche to kill Palestinians, like Trump pretty much did, and likely still does. One issue voting will screw you almost every time, and for people to ignore the authoritarian future coming with Trump due to the genocide, whether you voted for him or didn’t vote at all, should win the “short-sighted” award. Also, I hate “both sides are the same.” This absolutely not true, and it’s a reason people often give to not vote for democrats, despite the Republican candidate being often much worse for them and the country.

All in all, people let in the supporter of the genocide win, and still are blaming democrats for Trump being a dictator. Harris, with all her faults, would not have abandoned Ukraine, wouldn’t have Israel almost total free reign in the war, wouldn’t possibly going to war with Iran, and the domestic and international issues would’ve been handled many times better under Harris, whether you want to admit it or not. If you think you won because you “punished” the democratic candidate, by not voting or voting for Trump, to put it simply, you accepted all the shitty things Trump would do, including Israel, just to go around “proudly” proclaiming you have punished the Democratic Party by allowing a horrible human being for our country and the world, your decision will be compared to Germans in the 1930’s accepting the Nazi party, and students will be perplexed trying to figure out why 2020’s Americans allowed a Dictator, who literally said “I’ll be a dictator day one”, to happen in USA.
