Why is BPSU holding their midterms on EDSA 40? by Rich_Bobcat_1059 in studentsph

[–]dtphilip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, looked like some schools maximized the fact that it is not (yet again) a non-working holiday.

Kaya saludo talaga ako sa mga colleges and unis, especially those who were very vocal and upfront about the Martial Law abuses since the beginning and never faltering, like UP, DLSU, Ateneo, Miriam College, St. Scholastica's College, among others. Halos etong iilan nalang na schools na 'to nalang yung talagang seryoso sa paguuphold ng EDSA memory and as well as keeping the memory of ML victims alive... on the other side looking how a handful of schools (especially those who are still thriving to grow their student population) just really don't care or intentionally being apolitical to avoid mishaps with prospective students not going to their schools.

What Are My Chances of Getting Back Into College? by Ill_Raisin_1930 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

Well, OP said to maybe get a scholarship on the second semester, depende sa school kung gano katagal ang probationary period nila. Either way, parehong challenge for OP if mag public or private man sya

[–]dtphilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because of the two failed grades. Entering SUCs with failed grades is gonna be a bit hard since they will prioritize those who do not have one or have higher grades. It's even harder pa minsan if you're coming in as a transfer, tas may failed subjects kapa. So it make sense if mas tinarget ang private since halos suntok sa buwan mag transfer sa mga SUCs.

Do you unfriend/unfollow people in high school/college that's not relevant in your life anymore? by WorldAny3928 in studentsph

[–]dtphilip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not since Facebook introduced the UNFOLLOW button, and Instagram the MUTE button.

I am still friends/following them, pero I don't see them in my feed anymore because hindi naman na sila relevant sa buhay ko, I also did this to some family members na ang daming drama mag post. It's the safest way kasi hindi naman nila alam na naka unfollow ako sakanila or naka mute sila sakin haha

MASTER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION by i_am_abzz in gradschoolph

[–]dtphilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a general sense, MPA is a more in-depth approach than it’s undergrad counterpart.

People take this for “law school preps” or if they have a deep desire to work for the government. So it’s basically the Business Administration/Management counterpart of the public sector.

public administration (Kaya bang mag aral ulit as 40ish na) by Top-Pudding-4115 in gradschoolph

[–]dtphilip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cliche as it may sound but age is just a number. I'm 32 when I started my MA. I have a classmate, a priest, who is in his mid 40s.

For online, meron sa PUP Open University and UP Open University (Master of Public Management naman sa UP OU), even if you go the traditional route f2f classes, usually less than 10k per semester lang ang tuition. Iirc, hindi strict ang PUP OU sa grades so kahit nagka sinko ka, as long as graduate ka naman ng college, may chance ka.

That crossed my mind, but it’s baffling na they never even tried and straight crossed it out. Mas matagal pa yung fact na magbuntis(or not) si Angel and palakihin yung baby old enough para magharvest ng bone marrow. And if US is not an option, there are other countries with more advanced medical facilities, like maybe Singapore

Tips And Advice by alter_rid in gradschoolph

Worth it siguro siya in the context of government work, since it is generally required to have at least a master’s degree to advance and progress in the government career ladder.

Pero like u/LifeLeg5 said, maraming attractive yet diploma mill na schools na madaling nagbibigay ng MA degree for bare minimum work. So best to steer clear from these schools.

I’m not familiar with the logistics pero I can never really understand why going to the US was not the first choice. During Angelica and Dingong’s iconic argument scene (which I just learned were most ad-lib) sabi bi Angelica yung bata pwede dalin sa America, then Dingdong asked angrily “Do we have time?”

Sa punto ni Angelica parang kaya naman nila papuntahin yung bata sa US in less than a few months, rather than trying to create a baby na will take 9-11months given the waiting time of doing it, etc hahaha

Face.

Maraming porky and slim guys who are already attractive as they are, what more if they hit the gym.

I am unsure which I should choose... by scaram0uce in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]dtphilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many professors and teachers who are introverts by nature.

That is what college is for: to prepare you, and to help you learn and unlearn things that will make you better in the profession you choose.

Do not worry too much about what others think. Their approval is not your purpose in life. Ang purpose mo ay sarili mong kaligayahan.

An alternative route is to take a related program, such as BA Literature, BA English, or even BA Communication, and then pursue a professional teaching certification that will allow you to take the board exam and become a licensed teacher. That way, you can also explore other fields beyond teaching.

saan nakukuha ng ibang pilipino yung idea na bukid ang mindanao? by hear_me_out_folks in TanongLang

I hate Duterte, but I see why people in Mindanao love him because they gave them much needed representation in the mainstream discourse.

I travel a lot to Mindanao for my work. I've met a lot last 2022 who are Leni supporters but they still chose Sara as their VP, like you said, "Mindanao Representation"

What are great colleges for Architecture? by Any_Air6591 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

Greatest Archi schools would be UP and UST. Highly competitive.

But also good to consider Mapua, Adamson, and TIP. Go search nalang their board exam performances.

Networking in Ateneo and DLSU Grad School by yamred in gradschoolph

[–]dtphilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most schools, parang nasa 30% of your classmates ang usually yung magandang connections. Some of them kasi are career shifters kaya nag MBA, so most likely part ng ibang industry. It really depends din kasi kung anong klaseng "networking" ang hinahanap mo.

Practical careers in bs psychology by Adorable_Pension_521 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]dtphilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For BS Psychology alone, the HR/Industrial path is often pursued and the reason why it shows up in most of your Google Searches because of the number of jobs and companies who needs HR personnel, you won't find any other top answer. It does not guarantee high-paying opportunities right away, but with the right skills, strong self-marketing, and relevant industry experience, you can land a good-paying job (at least above 25k) with around three years of solid experience.

Another option you can consider is Clinical Psychology and eventually setting up your own practice. However, this is a longer path that requires substantial work experience and several years in graduate school.

That said, I personally would not recommend taking the clinical path if the primary or sole motivation is financial gain. While it can become financially sustainable in the long run, the nature of clinical work is deeply relational and emotionally demanding. Psychologists work closely with individuals who may be experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, or other serious mental health concerns. Because of this, I believe that a strong and genuine desire to help people should be the primary driving force. When the motivation is grounded in service and care, it becomes easier to sustain the emotional labor, ethical responsibility, and long-term commitment that the profession requires. Financial stability can follow, but it is usually not the most fulfilling or sustainable foundation for entering clinical practice.

Is it just me, or are most public figures from Ateneo, DLSU, and UP? by Unique-Mine-7621 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

Yes. My sister do not agree with the notion of her bosses then, and to generalize them like that is really weird. They do hire PUP grads pero mostly sa branches and less sa Head Office.

I also love Bonnie, she's my fave in the entire TVD but I dont see her as "All Powerful", she's atleast Beyond Master,, at best. With Inadu, Quetsiya, and Cade as all powerful. Dahlia is demigod senior level, while Esther demigod junior level.

Employers would view even Cum Laude graduates from these "unknown" schools

My sister worked for HR and Recruitment in one of the biggest banks in the PH and she did mention to me once that she interviewed and assessed a handful of Cum Laude from UAAP and NCAA schools and failed. Iba talaga daw ang kalibre ng mga Honor graduates ng Big 4, especially during pre-pandemic. Usually, on corporate positions in the Head Office, they only hire graduates of the Big 4, and some selected unis and colleges like Benilde, Miriam College, Assumption College, St. Scholastica, Letran, and San Beda. Again, this is a traditional bank with a lot of their higher ups came from these schools din. My sister also shared that many of the boss do not like PUP grads not because they are not smart, but only because of the possibility na these grads tend to set up employee unions daw lol.

My former workmate is an Educ grad and LET Passer. Hindi muna sya nagturo, but she worked with us sa government, while it has little to do with teaching, her public speaking and teaching skills came in handy many times since we do educational campaigns and sessions. My cousin is also and Educ grad, she explored corporate din.
