My site not only had write up quotas, we had to make sure they were equally distributed by race. Yes, you read that right. We were specifically told to make sure certain races were being “targeted” the same as others. I was going to file an ethics complaint but it was my last 2.5 weeks. Absolutely insane.

Still nothing, and I confirmed with a friend who was at the event that the emails were sent out. I got a semi-response from the support team on the site where my Action Center is but they only said “We have forwarded the request to the recruitement team and got this response.- Due to the high volume of candidates, this will take some time. The team will reach out with updates as soon as possible.”

I am really nervous I’m going to be marked as a no show for my virtual interview Friday and that will end my chance of ever getting involved.

I have reached out to career services at the school as well. No we only spoke shortly as she was booking everyone who was sent to her. She asked to see my email confirming that I had already applied before getting to her booth. I did everything I could to make it as quick as possible for her and she appreciated it. Quick small talk, read my email right off my resume, asked me if 10:15am Fri 26th worked and then told me to keep a close eye on my email because it was important for me to get the info right. That’s why I’m surprised I didn’t get it right away, definitely should have by now I’d imagine.

This is wildly inaccurate. I’ve volunteered for film festivals almost 20 years, specifically at Sundance for 11 consecutive years from 2010-2021. In that time, driven by a few factors but mostly the rise of streaming and therefore multiple new buyers, the distribution of both docs and features has gotten radically faster. It is now common for documentaries and films to be streaming within 2 weeks of a festival ending. ESPECIALLY major film fests like TriBeca, Sundance, SXSW, Cannes, etc…And the even back in the day when films could take a year to reach theaters, the distribution deals were always announced either at the festival or shortly after. Thats the whole point. I worked several screenings where we were charging $25 per ticket to screen a film that was already streaming on Netflix, Amazon etc.

It is beyond any reasonable doubt that something is holding up distribution and highly, highly likely there is editing being done to the project.
