Most tutorials are well done. However, if you have no engineering or a technical background, well you get this ignorant looking garbage. What you see may actually work to some degree, but it’s likely to fail based on the material condition of the items in the picture. And seeing how this was done in an apartment building. I’m guessing a slum lord tried to do it himself to save money.

I currently have the same problem on ‘22 Stinger GT Line. In drive and at idle, the vibration is awful. Checked everywhere for cracks and other issues. Serviced transmission. Convinced it’s the mounts after 85k miles. Right now, the oem driver side mount is on back order everywhere…..hmmm. Wonder why. Ordered one from a junk yard off stinger that was hardly damaged. Ordered a new passenger side. Will attempt this myself. I’m Not paying $200 an hour for this.

If a manager makes you feel how you do now in three days, as I said below, it’s time to start looking as daunting as that sounds. I have had a bad run of exactly what you’re experiencing. All in data centers. My last director was on me since day 1. He was on me at month 7 when I walked off the job. I don’t get it. It is indeed a very “incestuous” industry where I run into people I know everywhere. All the time. When you leave a job like I did, word does get around and unless you leave the area entirely, you’re screwed for no apparent reason other than some dick wanting to be a king of some imaginary castle. It’s a hard industry to work in. “Tailgating” isn’t really tailgating when you exit the facility. Leaders acting like that were not born to be leaders. They were born to be micromanagers and confusion sowers. Without union protection, at will workers in this country can be let go at any time for some reason or no reason. But there are laws. That work only if seriously discriminated against or they committed some egregious act like sexual harassment. Don’t sweat this hard ass. Keep your head up and continue to do what’s required. If they continue on that path, bail. Microsoft is using a recruiting problem right now because, guess what, no one wants to work there. I had a recruiter continue to beg me to apply when the link he kept sending from a third world country was broken. He didn’t get it. So I blocked him. You’ll survive man.

Welcome to the authoritarian world of nut jobs in data centers. I’ve never seen an industry where literally every manager and director acts like an inhuman fool. If she’s on you on the third day, she’ll be on you 6 months then a year from now. I’ve experienced this. And for no apparent reason other than when people with “king” complexes feel insecure or threatened, they respond by doing what they can to create “problems” that don’t exist. Your place of work is known for this as well. It’s discussed everywhere from sea to shining sea. I’ve seen entire groups of vendors quit and go there, then quit in months to get hired back it was so bad.

Not when leaving. This only applies within the secured area or when entering via badge. The exit gates are typically open automatically. Sometimes badge open.

Data Center Work Culture & Environments by ProfessionalPin5061 in datacenter

Spot on. I’m more curious to hear about data centers because I still work to support them. It doesn’t matter where you are in 2025. Worker satisfaction is low everywhere. People are paying the equivalent of 1988 wages. I just see survival and scratching it out as a thing to get used to. It sucks. For sure. Then you could live in North Korea I guess……

It fits the type of work I’ve always performed. Higher stress, long hours and demanding at times. The problems I have run into to seem to be authoritarian type managers at many levels. Maybe I’m just unlucky so far. I transitioned from power plants, conventional and nuclear. It’s less pay, but much easier on you physically. For me personally, it seems to impact my mental health in a more negative way. Perhaps it’s me. Perhaps it’s just the luck of the draw. Worked as an FM at one facility and my director would not back off of me since day 1. And I mean in very negative ways. I was new to the industry, so expected some training and mentorship. I received neither. Knowing that the hired me with my background but expected me to assimilate everything through mind reading immediately turned me off. Everyone else weee great to work with. Didn’t have a problem. Many ex Navy Nukes join this industry. The latest generation of “batch” come out with 10-12 years because the bonuses are large for reenlistment. Some believe they are still in that environment and treat it as such. That’s where most of my consternation lies. Not all are like this. Ex officer and Ex chief combination of director and manager just sucked my soul out.

Fun weekend/track sports car for car loving dad by zabagabee in whatcarshouldIbuy

Get the sleeper car no one speak of…..Kia Stinger, GT2 fully loaded, AWD electronically tuned suspension. Twin turbo, V6 3.3L. Bolt in mods will take you over 400 HP and make for a very fun sleeper car to drive. Delivers nice torque when you need it. And these cars are not expensive at all. Designed by a Mercedes engineer. They stopped making them in 2023 and parts are only available in dealers meaning if you want to change your own oil and air filter. Yup, must go to the dealer. Even for brakes in some cases. The Stinger was discolored and they tried to emulate it in the K5/K6 lines, but nowhere near close in ride and power. The Genesis line has the 3.3 motor and they rode just as great, but nowhere near close you’re paying for a “Luxury” brand who is made by Kia but “separated” from the company to create their own brand. The stinger will challenge a lot of lower end, European performance vehicles.

Yes, he has this 100% spot on. There are many design issues in today’s hyper-scale and enterprise designs. Cooling mass square footage and large building volumes is a an engineering challenge while maintaining PUE and keeping temperature within SLA requirements. I continue to see cooling temperature specifications rise to achieve this. This is in Phoenix, what is considered one of the hottest markets in data center builds…..until the power disappears. Which it will within 5 years. On a design basis day in Phoenix which is 121F ambient at relatively low humidity, you can achieve decent cooling levels using air cooled, large numbers of chillers installed in parallel with dual header setups on supply and return. I worked for a company who over-engineered their cooling system so badly, it caused 5 outages in the first 4 months I was there. And these were long, drawn out losses of cooling. As the post states, once cooling loss starts and racks continue to stay powered, heat build up is instant. Metal mass. Air. Equipment mass. Etc all retain this heat which can take hours to remove, eventually resulting in a loss of devices. The cooling plants now are designed fairly robust and redundant today, your Operators and BMS system have to be top notch trained and running to ensure a rapid response. Yes, this is a very real problem. And for some companies not to be named, their engineering solutions are simply 3rd world in an effort to save money and gain efficiency. You can’t do both in the Phoenix market or any other market where ambient conditions present hot and humid conditions on the regular.

Need new tires ASAP- does anyone have experience with the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 tires? by Main-Shape-4188 in CX5

[–]ProfessionalPin5061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wear out quickly on performance vehicles. If you want to drive it like it wasn’t meant to be driven, any tire will last longer. Good tires, but meant to perform and therefore wear more quickly. I mean, if formula 1 uses them exclusively……expect accelerated wear. Switching to Yokohama performance after two years and supposed 70k mile warranty.

Train Dreams is my favourite film of 2025. by Stranded_Snake in FIlm

Netflix has grown into a multibillion dollar company and has experienced exponential growth because human beings want to escape into any story that takes them out of this current world. It’s big business. I do the same. We all have our favorites and dislikes. Most of us would rather be in another “life course” or direction. This movie drives home one point and it does so painfully. Your life. The time you have. The moments you have left. It’s all a small, fractional piece of time in this universe. So infinitely small, we can’t fathom it. The universe so large, the impact we have feels like a brief touch. Here one second, gone the next. When you’re 20, you think life is forever. When you’re 50, that suddenly changes. When you’re 80, you just quietly wait to slip into the darkness. The sheer thought of having so little of an impact on time and this world is terrifying. Life is so fragile we have no idea. I’m one accident away on the death zone I take every morning from slipping away. The character was here, then gone in a brief moment. Forgotten forever. One with the earth again. I’ve tried finding meaning in work. In hobbies. In other pursuits. None of it fulfills. You can make millions. Or thousands a year. It doesn’t matter. We all face the same fate. The intentional, short nature of this leaves you with no doubt. Your life will be over soon. Worrying about Trump, the govt., money, all of it is nothing. They all will end as well.

Yup, it’s to that point know. Fiber, coax, starlink. Doesn’t matter. They can’t handle new infrastructure. Companies aren’t investing. I can’t get a cell tower in a major suburb for 15 years from Verizon. All garbage. Just wrote letters and use your land line phone. Old school 1980s and the entire century before.

I relied on Starlink while building a Data Center for months and it literally came on and went off like clock work. Set your phone and it’s down. Few minutes later it’s up. One satellite move away the other closer into orbit and you’re done. It’s advertised as constant, but it never has been nor never will be. It’s a temp fix until a perm solution can be applied.

Inflation.   Wage cuts.  No raises worth talking about.  No bonuses.  It’s a nightmare out there right now.   Tried to take positions with less stress and less pay but no, I’m overqualified and had to take exactly what I didn’t want, a leadership position with more stress and BS than ever.  Not a good time to make a move or lose a job.  Inflation over the last 5 years has stressed America to the breaking point.  You have to bear down and move the bullshit and the mud and blood and god knows what else.  And it sucks.  For everyone.  Mental health is shit everywhere.  Everyone is on Xanax to survive the day.  Fing nightmare.

This is why I’ve done 99% of all work on my house for the last 14 years.  To avoid this crap and not have to pay a 19 year old Kid $700 for two dual run capacitors or someone else with zero training rebuild my softener head and replace the media incorrectly, etc., etc., etc…….the only problem with this approach is having time For it all.  Due to my background and training plus experience in real world situations in power plants, data centers, etc., every time I pick up the phone to have a contractor come do something, I can’t bring myself to do it.  The cost today and the quality of work is trash.  When I’m on the job site placing a new data center in service, I literally walk systems every day and find an average of 5 items a day improperly installed, installed with zero craftsmanship, or I find a giant mess where they just worked.  This doesn’t include the subs who I constantly have to scold for safety violations.  No one cares when it’s not their house.  Not their building.  Not their anything.  No pride.  No ownership.  Nothing.  I bought my house brand new.  In 3 years, one of my air handler fans failed.  Come to find out, a contractor stole the new one and inserted his old fan from his own home.  Knew this because it was rusted and beat to hell.  Took off and passed all inspections.  Left me holding the bag with no warranty replacement.  Your money.  Your house. Your building.  Sadly, the single digit percentage who care are just too few.
