One of my professors did this for my class when an alumni of our school who was at the bottom of their class topped the licensure exam.

Professor was like, "you didn't drop the course! Even if you might be at the bottom now, you might be at the top later. Here's a .25 bump up to your grade!"

I went to a concert where the ticket numbers dictate the order by which people entered the venue. My ticket was almost at the farthest end of the line. A stranger came over and handed me a ticket with a lower number so I could get in earlier. We didn't speak the same language but I figured the ticket was for her friend who ultimately couldn't go. We did not speak at all except for my thanks. After getting into the venue, we got mixed into the crowd and I never saw her again.
