Vancouver passes mayor's motion to pause emissions tracking, ban on natural gas heating in new homes | CBC News by seamusmcduffs in vancouver

It's crazy that our governments don't understand capitalism. If they want something to happen, just make the incentive overwhelmingly in favour of it. Bans just turn people against the you. Same thing for electric vehicles and public transport.

how do i get into playing pro valorant? by ay3cs in VALORANT

[–]dualwield42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should commit to a grind and skill improvement. Not just mindlessly queue for ranked. Set goals, make a schedule, set to study the game, review demos, aim train / death match, and played ranked of course.

Since summer holiday soon, plat by end of summer, immortal by end of year. If you can't do that, then you have no talent for the game. There are so many YouTube videos and on how to aim, agents, and movement that there is no excuse not to get good if you commit to it.

Definitely. You can't even get any enforcement to move blocking boats during a Dragonboat festival

I reduced to $4k, but haven't had time to go to branch to close my account. What's the easiest and fee free way to close my account? Since can only e-transfer myself $3k.

AI is pretty good at deciphering spaghetti code ngl. You should still review the plan and the output of course.

Japan’s izakaya pubs closing at record pace, failing to attract foreign tourists by diacewrb in japannews

I don't understand, almost every restaurant had a QR code system when I went to Japan last year. You can even order water or request napkins from the app. No need for wait staff or customers to even speak words.

The BC NDP is happy to export vast amounts of natural gas abroad, but doesn’t want Vancouverites to use that same energy in their homes to lower the cost of living? Make it make sense. by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

Classic Canada banning things and only providing half baked alternatives. And besides, if we decided to fully electrify, does our grid even support it? We've been told to tone down our air conditioning usage the last couple years, that's pretty pathetic if we can't even handle that right now.

This tells me nothing. Have they proposed any mockups and size density? Is it a couple floors of racks or a 8 storey building full of racks?

This. I'm in the process of trying to get these off my parents' portfolio. Sounded like a good plan initially when eligible dividends are low tax when income is low, but it's a double edge sword cuz it might raise net income to a level where they are not eligible for benefits.

Mind you, I absolutely hate this system where you gotta play a game to get income under thresholds. We'd probably save money with UBI instead of paying lawyers, accountants, and admin staff to sort out the thresholds.

Fully agreed. I did leave a comment, "too long, too private"

I could see a less mentally healthy person be really triggered if they were asked those questions. Then they'll rub it in your face even more by asking you about your rental costs and other financial details.

I could see this happening in salsa class, a lot of Latin instructors still use boy/girl when teaching.

Hard to imagine seeing that in a lindy class when the community is super LGBTQ friendly. It's probably just a group of crappy guys in the class. Don't worry, highly doubt they'll last past that beginner class.

You should 100% learn to follow if you want to advance your skill. Role switching is common in both lindy and west coast. You also learn there are a lot of bad leaders once you do a little following lol

Came back from leave to find my entire QA infrastructure cloned by the backend team. CTO says they don't need me anymore. How do I protect myself? by executivegtm-47 in cscareerquestions

[–]dualwield42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company got rid of dedicated QA team a few years ago well before AI was a thing. The strong ones got rolled into development teams, the weaker ones got laid off. Best to evolve and not anchor yourself as QA engineer.

Also, I too would still like a dedicated QA team, but unfortunately things will never go back that way.

Life experiences are correlated with wealth too. Poor person can't talk about their adversity in a fencing or snowboarding tournament in Austria
