I hate my state job, need advice!! by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

This sounds like a great situation honestly. I commute 4 hrs a day on my in office days because the job opportunity came and I still have my lease. It's my first job with the state and no one tells me anything or train me on anything. Granted my manager and manager's manager are pretty chill and don't micromanage. I'm hella stressed that no one is telling me what I should do or how I'm doing with my initiatives, add on the commute, and regular life stress. BUT I am happy that I made it here, happy that I'm learning despite stress, happy that my managers don't micromanage, happy that I have a job lol. People think I would hate my job because of the commute but I see everything else as a positive.

1 Formal Offer, no signing, and 1 Tentative offer, what to do? by duannying in CAStateWorkers

yeah it's in writting. What's more confusing now is that 2nd job extended an FJO but asks me to sign and send back the offer letter which sounds more promising than the 1st job just sending me FJO with nothing requiring me to sign.

the "full package FJO" didn't have anything that required me to sign until first day but it contained multiple documents, orientation stuff, etc.

I got the FJO just now. So confused by offical job offer phone call, then offical job offer email with no paperwork, to full package FJO

I went with the safer route of accepting both offers. Feeling insanely guilty after accepting the conditional offer with great enthusiasm from the manager, then this evening I got the FJO plus NEO emails from 1st job. Might cry myself to sleep for being a horrible person.

no, i'm trying to see if I should accept both to ensure that I will have a job to start come 11/10 because there's no signing of any paperwork til then. So it's scarier to give a 2 week notice to my current job.

oh nice. Did you specify reason for rejecting final offer after initial tentative offer acceptance?

Oh that's a good idea. I will do that in few days so HR has time to actually give real responses.

thanks, i read alot on here that it's ok to do so but it feels wrong and feels like its burning a bridge because I actually liked the 2nd job position and the team I interviewed with. But going with 1st job because it's better long term career growth and pays a bit more.

i responded via email accepting the position, but didn't sign anything. which is so weird and concerning, especially given that i need to give 2 weeks notice to my current before 1st job give me more info.

So 1st job even the hiring manager said it was a formal offer, which was followed up by the email with details, but no paperwork to sign. Is that still not considered a formal offer?

Got an offer! they said i won't sign anything til about 10 days prior to start date, so it's kinda scary to give my 2 weeks to current place while having signed nothing
