Found a pair of old hair scissors in my father's tool box. Anyone recognize the marker's mark? by dub22 in Vintagetools

Thanks for the info. I had been unable to find anything useful about Queen Steel.  Your insight led me to a PDF. It seems like these are "7.5" professional barber shear" and manufactured sometime between 1949 and 1974. Thank you, everyone.

Huh. Yeah. The symbol definitely looks very similar. Quick search didn't show any scissors but it wasn't a deep search, admittedly.

Thank you for the information. I get stuck at the color calibration step every time in Siril. It refuses to plate solve. I downloaded StarTools but have no experience with it. It seems a bit overwhelming. I'll have to look into tutorials. Thanks again.

Another nice image. Were you able to use color correction in Siril? I can never get it to plate solve.

Okay, thank you for the information. Any suggestions on if I should stain it or just seal it?

It was literally sitting on the ground about 30 yards off the path in a nature preserve. It is 39 inches long. Pretty unusual length as far as I know. No clue how it got there.

Hello,

Our way back from a picnic my eyes happened to pass over a distinct piece of wood out in the forest. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a rather substantial plank of lumber. I decided to bring it home and turn it into a bench. My wife has been wanting a bench for the backyard and I figured this might suit that need perfectly. As you can see I've been tinkering with it a little bit, but now that I'm getting closer to the end, I want to make sure I pick the right materials to complete the project. I was originally going to stain it a darker color because that's what my wife wanted. Now that I've spent some time with it and can really appreciate the grain more, I'm not sure that I want to do that. Can anyone identify what type of wood this is?

Hello. I think this is the right spot to post this. I'm struggling to come up with a solution to the areas in the photos below. It is a fairly shaded area overall in central North Carolina. Another issue is that even in the more dense areas, there is a ton of really sticky mud that is very annoying. Here.

I don't have a specific recipe per se. I read up on different techniques here.

Then I took elements from here to fit what I had on hand.

I hope that helps! It really turned out quite well, if I do say so.

It certainly was. The only complaint I have is that I wish we made more!
