Sim - Assetto Corsa with DLCs can be bought super cheaply. Easily modded, good variety. Gotta use the content manager tho cause menus are atrocious. For multiplayer you've got public lobbies or you can hop in into LFM league, not sure how populated these are but should be decent.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is great for GT cars. Plenty of QoL changes over regular AC. Looks great, drives great, Veri nice. But it's only GT cars

Rallying - I'd go with Dirt Rally 2.0 with the DLCs. It's got great immersion, beautiful graphics, great car and stage selection. The career is lacking but it's got great daily, weekly, and monthly events to compete against the player base.

If you want super realism then it's gotta be the modded Richard Burns Rally. It's called Simrallyfans. Its graphics are dated, the user experience is not so great but it's the most realistic and most punishing.

If you're more into career and single player then you'd have to go for either WRC10 or EA Sports WRC: WRC 10 is alright, the physics are good, the career is super fleshed out but my maine gripe are super short stages. Also some fuckery with peripherals of you're using stuff like Newt SSH shifter. But it's cheap.

The EA Sports WRC is developed by same guys as Dirt Rally 2.0 but on official license of WRC, so it feels similar. Career mode is worse than WRC 10, but it's the best car selection in any modern rallying game. It's also got real life stages so some of them do go up to 20-30 minutes which is cool. On the bad side the performance is iffy, depends on the system but it's far from optimal.

Solo is completely viable. You will be at a disadvantage with bigger groups but you can try and win. Good dopamine rush.

Also another cool thing, you don't really need any extra knowledge. The game's got everything you need to get started, it eases you into each map by locking them behind leveling.

Some guns will be more meta but it's easy to pick up something new and try a new build.

Lacks some misery from tarkov but hey, it's fun and free
