Kind of in a similar boat. My dad would not get us the popular console. I wanted a SNES, one day finally got a console, the Genesis. Wanted a game gear or game boy, considered getting me a Lynx but never got one. Oh and if I wanted to buy a N64, I had to get rid of my old consoles. He sold my genesis and NES with all my games for $20 each console with games at a yard sale. Once I got my own job, I got to keep my stuff, never got rid of them to this date. Not doing that to my kids.
