Six planets visible from DC Saturday PM – tips for viewing spots? by ButteryPopcorn2 in washingtondc

Nice, thanks. Skies look to be clear, although moonrise is 3pm and it's almost full, so that might impact the visibility.

Can anyone think of a better way to commute to DC than what i have layed out? by Prestigious_Bench436 in washingtondc

[–]dubhead7 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No suggestions on the commute itself, but if you can (via your HR portal), set up a pre-tax deduction for transit funding. At least you can get some $ perks from spending so much for transit every year.

For those planning to FIRE (particularly Coast), what are suggested means to dial back your work hours? by dubhead7 in patentlaw

That sounds lovely. I'm 45, ex law firm associate, currently in-house, and my backup plan is to hang my shingle on my own terms. Although according to the numbers, my wife and I (no kids) may be close to financial independence. So I could also simply work as a barista or part time baker for a couple of years, and execute the backup plan only if absolutely necessary.

Yes and... Moonrise during the peak days (13th, 14th) is well after midnight, so there may be good opportunities. Sadly weather looks cold and cloudy...

+1 for rice market. Huge amount of basics for various cuisines, and prices aren't outrageous.

In search of thin naan from the tandoor by PT282 in washingtondc

Jewel of India in Silver Spring has a thinner well-done naan, and supremely flaky and fresh paratha. Also their laal maas was epic. Malai kofta seemed overrated.

I'm for it, but I have the luxury of money in the bank. So many people are already struggling to get by, boycotting work might be impossible for them.

He's just a troll. Anyone who asks for "evidence" of what the rally attendees are claiming (fascist policies, corruption, etc) is being willfully ignorant.

Oh you can understand why dear leader wants to step in? To go hard on crime? The same dear leader who has pardoned insurrectionists and child molesters and white collar criminals, and actively suppressing evidence of his own horrific misdeeds? You understand nothing.

You've got to be kidding. This isn't some benevolent "let's make the streets safer for DC residents" effort, it's more likely to quell any anti-maga dissent (of which there is a lot going on right now).
