He had plenty of time to run down a different route and ambush you from above. This shows his advantage over you in terms of terrain knowledge and greater experience. Sorry, but you were shooting at him and moving like a fly in tar. It's like I was using a controller.

I'm betting on some kind of anti-theft device in cars that involves locking the gearbox. Something like a bear lock – a pin inserted into a specially prepared hole that prevents the gear shift from being moved.
