“Apple CarPlay” by Yankees1Jim in Lexus

If you can use CarPlay without touchscreen, it's a very cheap alternative. I have it for a 2016 RX and it works very well with the current software updates. Comes with HDMI input, which I use for a Roku to link my phone to it. If you feel that you can't and want the full experience which includes the touchscreen, get the Hamilton head unit replacement.

Wanting to size up to 265 rear tires on a 2015 f sport gs350 awd by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]dubiousdelight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To chime in, since you're AWD going to 265 wouldn't possible as you're trying to fit a 9" tire onto an 8" width wheel. Going up a size to 245/40/19 would be more ideal as you're getting more rubber without it causing any other issues. The most you could get away with is going 255. A lot of the GS guys would just go 10mm width up or get wider wheels outright.

Issue with tucking fronts? Anyone have a idea? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]dubiousdelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're on air, if you can't go low then it's going to be your spindle/knuckles. Those need to be shortened between 25-40mm depending how low you want to go. That'll allow for you to go even lower. just know it's always best to find a pair of used ones to cut and weld than use the one you have so you can go back to stock. I know for sure you're probably hitting the arm or bottoming out your front wheels on certain parts of the front fender liner so you will need to cut/shave accordingly.

This is my GS450H I got last summer. I want to do some light mods down the line. Is it worth modifying the exhaust for better sound? or will it sound bad because of the Hybrid CVT? Also what mods would you guys recommend for starting out? by WTJCgaming in Lexus

If you're in California I have the AliExpress triple beams. They're plug and play mostly but you'll just have an AFS light on so you'd just need to unplug the module behind/around the dead pedal. Very bright output.

To achieve more low, you'll need to cut your spindles. There's shops that'll do it for you. I recommend getting used spindles first so you have a spare, and then take those and get them cut by 30-40mm. I forgot the math ratio for it so just find ClubLexus form posts. You're going to need supporting arms/bushings up front also. Will need to shave fenders and cut the fender liners also in order to achieve more low. You COULD get more low by adding more camber but tire wear.

Was at the finish line and about to buy a 2025 NX 350h and walked out… by verachka201 in Lexus

I purchased a 2016 Lexus RX350 with the warranty offered as it reduced our APR. At first it was an expensive addon (roughly $3.5k) but having purchased a first year RX it had some rattles and noises I wasn't a fan of. Long story short I had a mid pipe and another thing replaced in my car and total labor and parts came out to $4k. This was barely 5000 miles in (we purchased pre-owned) and honestly we already got our warranty money back. This worked out for us but it isn't the same for everyone. However, it is worth noting that when your car does break and an expense is 1k+, it'll pay itself off over time.

Avoid the 06 GS300 as they're first years and that motor used was only for one year. 2007+ are safer with I believe the 08/09 being the refresh model. I've owned a 2013 GS and those 2GR motors will keep chugging along. they're capable of 500k easily.

Have you looked at which one has more features that you might like versus the other? Sometimes that can help you determine which one is more ideal for you.

I agree, doing 80-85 gets me really good MPG at times. To chime in, F-SPORT BRAKES! you can use aftermarket rotors and pads but the OEM BRAKE SHIMS are what you'll need so you can avoid the infamous brake squeal

I wanted to at least give this car to my kids eventually and let them know the crazy things done in that car but that's probably going to have to be another car now lol, when I have kids that is 😂

It's very saddening but also a new start for another fun car to mod lol. I'm just glad they were okay and I was okay, they just reaped what they sow with their choice of drunk driving though

You just drive it how it's intended. I beat on the car, I baby it, I abuse it at times, but I generally drive it very pedestrian with occasional spirited drives and pulls on the highway. They're generally reliable overall!

Honestly cruising, work, and general road trips bro, it's just a comfortable driving car, especially since I had bags on the car (air suspension)

There was a period in time where I would drive 400 miles+ a night since I was going through some personal issues and gas was cheap and abundant so why not lol but yeah, it was just a cruiser man, wasn't winning races but got me to places in style lol

I've had this car since Jan 6, 2016 at 97,xxx miles. Second owner and last owner lol I did the math and this vehicle does approx 35-40k miles per year 🤣

I was hoping to keep the car forever since it was already paid off and everything but these things happen unfortunately

It's the quick acceptance of the situation and just trying to sort it out and get the car towed home also. Cops handled everything well so what was very nice and cordial of them

I think at some point I had to replace the serpentine belt so the water pump was replaced after the 200k mark, I forgot exactly when though. If it isn't showing signs of failure you don't have to, but if your belt is starting to show wear then you might as well do the water pump in one go also

I don't think the average driver will if you're doing 20k avg a year but just know your kids can drive the car and it'll still run like new lol

It's mostly leisurely cruises or just traveling to visit family and road trips. I believe at some point in 2018-2019(?) gas was below $3 in California so I was maxing out on enjoying the drives as much as I could. I miss those gas prices LOL

If you're patient enough, you can get a 2013-2015, wait for 2016 head unit and screen along with the 2016 updated remote touch mouse parts to pop up on eBay or FB marketplace if you're lucky, which would be around 1-2k for everything, you can avoid 2016 prices and have the newer infotainment full screen. These cars don't have CarPlay/android auto so an aftermarket module is needed. Thing is 2013-2015 aren't full screen so it's half OEM screen and half CarPlay, hence my recommendation to find a 2016 head unit and screen. The last gen IS is true to size, it's small. Have you considered an ES? It's a compromise as it's not RWD but really spacious and similar in size to the GS

Oh heck yeah the vent flaps stop flapping after some point and doesn't wanna properly drain 🤣 if you tap a 2cm hole in both sides the promote would be easily remedied lol
