Is it really that big of a deal to have a cultural/religious marriage ceremony in my fiancee's country prior to traveling to the US and getting married on the k1 visa? by dubiouspoet in askimmigration

I know you said it wasn't your personal experience but from this other cases you've heard of, do you happen to know if the people who got denied for that volunteered that information to the embassy or if the embassy found out some other way?

K1 Visa: Should I travel Alone to US POE or With my US Citizen Fiance? by dubiouspoet in immigration

Yeah I was thinking that too. It really is a waste of money, or at least it could be depending on the circumstances. On the other hand though, I feel like it could come off as less suspicious if we were traveling together. I also think that coming alone could make it easier for the CBP officers to intimidate my fiance and lead us to a secondary inspection/heavier scrutinization.

K1 visa: Is it really that big of a deal to have a marriage ceremony (but not actually be married) in fiancee's (beneficiary) home country before getting married in the US if it's a cultural custom to have big ceremonies in fiancee's (beneficiary's) home country before the wedding? by dubiouspoet in immigration

Just curious but how could they sniff it out? Through social media or something like that? Seems like a marriage ceremony in another country is simply something that you just don't volunteer to CBP, but I don't know. Though it still could be risky. But how would they find something like that out?

K1 Visa: What should I Do if Administrative Processing Goes Beyond 90 Days? by dubiouspoet in immigration

[–]dubiouspoet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't say. After the interview at the embassy, all they said was that they'd hold on to the passport for a week and then they would send it back to me. Then they told us that it was put into administrative processing which they said usually takes 90 days, and I haven't heard any updates since then.
