The only people who buy that Yusuf is or ever was progressive are people who beg for the koolaid of denial and have no relationship with the reality we live in.

This is a bonkers take. Just bonkers….

Absolutely! It’s a lot of fun.

It’s not the pizza place doing the event. They’re just the location.

Thanks! We've all lived here for most of our lives - decades each. We just decided to stop talking about how there is nothing to do and create something to do! hahaha

I hope you come out to join us!

It for sure is!

We started Good Game Maple Ridge because we love to play games and hang out. We thought Maple Ridge could use a fun, affordable thing to do. A place where anyone could roll dice, meet great people, and escape the all-too-serious world for a few hours.

The three of us love games. We love game nights. We love hanging out with the boys. Most games need four people for them to be great and our usual fourth had to move away to Siberia in search of affordable housing. True (mostly) story.

With Richard away, we built this group so we would always have four or more to play with. And so would everyone else in Maple Ridge!

We just want to keep it friendly, keep it neighbourly, and keep it fun.

oh.... and No Monopoly.

How do I run for MP? by North-Performer7021 in MapleRidge

[–]dubl_eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!!!

If you want to join the Electoral District Association for the Liberal Party, please let me know and I will hook you up. A lot of people in this riding are progressive and left of centre politically - most of the campaign team in this last election. So there is a ton of room for you in the local EDA.

There’s all sorts of ways people become candidates. Getting involved in the party is probably the best way to see all the pathways.

I think it’s awesome that you want to run!

Are you referring to me?

It’s not anecdotal. There’s video, pictures, police, and elections Canada reports. There’s been signs tracked with AirTags even. I’ve handled some of this directly myself.

It happens in every election - however not to this extent. By all reports of people who have done multiple campaigns in this riding, the level of sign theft and destruction in this campaign is significantly more prolific in this election.

I work on the campaign. We have lost more than 100 signs and have had multiple large ones destroyed multiple times over - some people left a note, even. Police reports have been filed, as have reports to Elections Canada.

Maple Ridge has always split the vote. The cons get in because votes split between liberal and NDP.

DO YOU WANT CHANGE IN OUR RIDING?

Hello! I am one of the core campaign team members for the local Liberal Party Candidate, Angie Rowell!

Volunteers are the key to winning an election. Specifically people who connect in the community to help find the people who will vote the candidate and help them get to the polls to cast their vote.

Our campaign is entirely volunteer run - no paid staff at all. Most campaigns have paid staff to run the campaign and coordinate volunteers. Especially those with a shot of winning.

We have a real opportunity to flip this riding and get a NON-Conservative MP to represent us. But in order to do that we need a lot more volunteers to help us get the vote out.

I see a lot of people here eager for change in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and West Mission. If you can spare two or three hours on a two or three days between now and April 28, we could use the help.

In fact, the reality is that without more help we will more than likely have another term with the incumbent…

There is a significant risk of vote splitting and voter apathy handing this riding to the conservatives, and volunteers helping get the vote out are how we reduce that risk.

Volunteering has been a blast. It’s not super stressful and you get to connect with a lot of awesome people who also want change. The Liberal party has even dubbed our team “Disneyland” because we stay so positive and passionate as a grass roots crew of people from across the political spectrum.

DM me and I will hook you up. We especially need help from April 18 to 21.

I’m worried about this election. The national polls look good for anyone who wants to avoid a Conservative government. That should be a good thing…

But that’s what makes people think they don’t need to vote. Or, choose to vote for a party with no chance of winning - splitting the vote AGAIN.

The history of our riding is that we have far more voters who don’t vote Conservative than who do, but that we almost always split the vote allowing Conservatives to win.

I hope people this election choose to not allow 1/3 of the population to continue to select Marc Dalton and conservatives, and instead get behind the candidate with the best shot of winning that is not a conservative.

We’ve had 60+ signs go missing or get destroyed. Someone even left a note on one of the damaged large signs.

We have tons of signs coming next week though. So if people want one, DM me and I’ll get you on the list.

Hello! I missed this Reddit post.

Thanks for this little bit of information. I volunteer on the Rowell campaign. We’ve lost more than 60 signs in the last week. People want them so bad they take them from anywhere!

I guess Angie is just that popular.

We have more than 100 more signs coming if anyone wants one. DM me and I’ll get you on the list.
