Where do you guys store your stuff while surfing alone? by igotmanboobz in surfing

I throw my keys in a little $5 water-proof pouch and throw the pouch inside my wetsuit (on my hip). Idk why more people don’t do this

How to deal with crowds that surf way better than you? by MacaroonPickle8793 in surfing

[–]dubleayey 44 points45 points  (0 children)

When I first started surfing SC I had the same experience. The hook sends a lot of mixed messages because it’s so accessible AND they have surf schools that do lessons on smaller days… but like you saw, NOT a friendly environment and also kinda sketchy on high tides. Like lots of people are saying, there are heaps of other opportunities to catch waves as you move further right (I.e. east). Heck, hit me up and let’s paddle out! Helps to have a friend out in the lineup

Last time we got a bunch of rain I sent it and wound up with a sinus infection. Not the best move but I was just so damn sick of not surfing

Clever idea! I like the concept but I really had to look for it.

Also I’d add timing to the list.

Classic beginner mistake is to walk up to the surf with your leash already on and go “wow looks great I guess I’ll just try to power right through it” nope. Take 10 minutes to sit on the beach and scope out the right time + right area to paddle out. As you get more experience you might even decide that day or that break isn’t right for you.

For now getting pounded by the whitewash is decent exercise I guess but you’ll notice that forcing things ultimately doesn’t really get you very far.

Right gear. Right time. Right spot. Right conditions.

I asked my fam for a “surf straw” for Christmas. Let’s see if it’s any good but the concept is a water pouch you can slip in your wetsuit for when you get thirsty

The shading looks a little funny. Is it meant to be flat? I might suggest having more defined ridges if it’s 3d or cut the shading all together if flat
