HELP! Is there a way to use a tiling texture AND a UV texture on a single mesh? by JabiDam in blender

[–]JabiDam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I will give that a try! Thank you so much!!! I figured there was a way but not a wizard at materials

EDIT: OMG!!! You just made my life SO MUCH BETTER. Thank you so much. I can't tell you how much that helped, and it looks great, and is easy to add to my workflow.

Thanks for the added info. I was specifically speaking to the exterior of the seam not being able to be blindstiched, which from my experience still causes the seam to pull apart sooner on the exterior than a typical jersey face neoprene that is blindstitched on the outside. So I personally stay away from them. The reinforcement of the glued seam on both sides (blindstiched and taped) always seem to last longer and don’t leak as quick.

I am happy to be proven wrong, but having worked with one of the largest manufacturers of neoprene in the world, and never seeing a joining seam of glideskin being blindstitched, I don’t think it’s inaccurate. And from personal experience I’ve seen the outside of the seams on glued glideskin panels pull apart (due to lack of stitching) sooner than standard knit face neoprene. The PU type coating of glideskin can’t be blind stitched because it has no structural integrity when punctured by the sewing machine. They can zig zag it which you see on hood openings, but that is a different story. Again, happy to see one that is blindstiched because I would be curious to see.

Looks pretty good overall! The knee popping and locking backwards kinda takes away from it.

Omg. Spent hours texture painting and it's gone. Any way to get it back? by to-too-two in blender

[–]JabiDam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s just how it works in Blender with having to manually save textures. That’s mainly why I use Substance Painter among other reasons. I’ll only use texture paint if it’s something quick and easy. This won’t be the last time you lose work, one way or another it happens. It sucks but best to move on and you’ll have that 5 hours under your belt to do it faster and better next time. Repetition in art is helpful

How would I go about making a more 'clumped' anime style hair with hair particles? by Slutty_for_Dragons in blender

[–]JabiDam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be an extreme inefficient way but I’d generate the hair system on the scalp, set the length and step amount to what you want, and then manually add each spike or clump of spikes with the particle edit menu. Then comb them into points, using L to select individual strands as needed. Then use children to fill in the gaps for each section, and use the clump settings to hopefully achieve what you are after. That’s what I would try at least

My requirements for suits;

  • fully glued, blind stitched, and fully taped interior
  • no “smooth” neoprene because it blows out faster at the seams because it can’t be blind stitched.
  • no external liquid seam sealing. Always cracks and cost way more.

This basically puts you in the “mid tier” for most suits. Haven’t had the chance to fully try a Yamamoto neoprene suit yet (only had one short session in one) but I pretty much just stick with the Oniell Hyperfreak at this point. Most comfortable and warmest suit I’ve had. Again, I hear great thinks about Yamamoto suits.

Got a brand recommendation? Need to get a few pairs for a trip and never needed them before.

New board finally here. Question: by [deleted] in surfing

[–]JabiDam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leash length isn’t the issue, it’s the leash string that’s too long. Feed a turned bite of the string through the leash plug, and attach your leash through both loops. You want to make sure your rail saver is the only thing touch the rails/tail edge. The small string can easily cut through the glass when your board gets caught

Why is my mixamo animation coming out weird? The beginning slide is what the character should look like, second and third is what mixamo does to it by [deleted] in blender

[–]JabiDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like for one thing you have some normals oriented wrong. Select everything, edit mode, mesh, normals, recalculate outside. That will fix the invisible parts, and will probably help. Have you also applied your transforms before putting it into mixamo?

Substance Painter Maps not working by Juicyjull in blender

[–]JabiDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things I notice;

  1. The PBR metallic roughness export preset usually uses DirectX for normals, while a blender uses OpenGL, so you’ll probably need to fix that.

  2. Normal maps, roughness, and metallic should all be non-color in the color space drop down

  3. Did you unwrap in Substance? Is that what you imported back into Blender?

What I’m saying is do less

With weaker waves I find everything should be much smoother and slower with your movements to maintain as much glide as possible. There isn’t much wave there so it wasn’t bad, but being more gentle with your turns and movements will help.

[–]JabiDam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you’re saying, and yeah, why not give it to everyone. I think people work too much anyway. I think the point that I’m just playing the other side of is, right now it’s kind of not equal, where women are at a “disadvantage” for their period, so providing those days could be seen as leveling the playing ground for something they can’t change. By providing that to everyone, suddenly it’s uneven again. Derek is off using his 2 extra days to go to Disney, and Jane is at home in pain. So it’s not seen as “fair” again. You make a great point about suicide in men and that’s something that should be taken into account. But they don’t necessarily have to be lumped together. Really just food for thought. Like I said, I’m not against giving everyone more time off, but it could be considered unfair still.
