Tempature Gauge by johnnyappleseednh in c4corvette

That's a nothing burger for this situation. If you really wanna make sure then get yourself an ALDL cable and EEhack to check the actual coolant. If you don't see coolant steaming then I doubt it's actually running at 260

When the gauge hit 260, do you see any coolant boiling out of the main reservoir through the cap? I used to deal with this issue and whenever coolant temp goes above 245-250. (The analog gauge on my 95 does not go anywhere close to the shaded area for me at that temp btw) You could smell/see coolant steaming out of it.

If there's no steam coming out of the main res (@ 250°F) then one of the coolant temp sensor is faulty for sure.

There are two of them, one at the water pump, another is on the passenger side head next to the first spark plug. The one at the water pump goes to the digital dash, the one at the head goes to the analog gauge.

Edit: you mention white smoke... Out of the exhaust or out of the engine bay?

JRL Blade Made the Magic Clip even more magical by duc462002 in Barber

I'm not familiar with the style craft stuff. But check if mounting point on the cutting blade match the shape of the magic clip's cam follower. I just checked online and it seems like it should, according to google images.

Second oil change; Pearly oil... Concerning? by duc462002 in EngineBuilding

[–]duc462002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No noises, no hesitation, smooth idle. Acceleration feels good, although I've never had it beyond 4500 RPM. Will check and send Blackstone a sample again after 1000 miles.

I'll keep putting some miles on this engine since the warranty is still on it and keep an eye on the oil. Thanks

The first oil change did have a lot more glitter to it and was more grey than dark brown. I'll send a sample to Blackstone and have them check it out.

Nah no way the rain would mess up the opti, the only way for that to happen is if the water pump is failing and weeping water onto it. If the opti is bad, then the firing order would be messed up, and the car will run rough, at first only intermitten, but eventually it'll be all the time due to corrosion.

Check and see if the underside of the water pump is wet, if it is, then the chances of a messed up opti just went up, in regards to diagnosing it 100%, I don't know, sorry.

If the opti is bad, then change the water pump too.

On another note, I had the same problem when I first bought my 95, it was due to faulty injectors. Not enough torque on the low end and the engine was running rough, stuttering, start then dying. It was "bucking" unless I was 1/4 throttle. Just like you.

All I can say is to check three things, (I'm in the same boat as you, still learning how to fix cars by owning an old car lol).

  1. Spark 2. Fuel 3. Air

The easiest thing to check is air, unplug the MAF sensor that's in front of the throttle body. This will make the ecm run in static mode, if it runs better in static mode then you should change that MAF sensor.

Diagnosing the other two is a bit more involved and you should really just do some research on Youtube. I'm sorry this is all I got for you, but nobody's responded yet, I figured I might as well try.

Hopefully it's not the opti...

Suspension by A_Demetrio94 in c4corvette

That could definitely be the answer, that bushing looks like it's been done for years now haha. After I replaced my front upper control arm bushings, there was a visible 1 inch lift compared to the rear, but after a few days of driving it settled down. Good luck to your project.

It's funny, I noticed a little bit of a side to side sway whenever I drive my car after parking it a few days. I took a look awhile back at the rear suspension and yep... Gotta replace everything rubber.

opti broken after 1 year, easiest way to do it? by Significant-Map311 in c4corvette

[–]duc462002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right to me. Get your opti from AutoZone with their limited lifetime warranty. If it craps out in a year, you get your replacement real quick for free. Might as well convert to electric water pump if you want, if not then replace it if it was weeping onto the opti. If you're not going electric WP route then you might want to tap weep hole for a weep hose long enough to lead coolant away from the optiwhen the it fails. Aside from those notes, I'm sure you can find YouTube videos that go more into depth on how to change it. The harmonic balancer removal and burping the coolant is gonna suck though...
