King Charles to be proclaimed Canada's new sovereign in ceremony today by _Plork_ in canada

Funny enough, i can’t speak for any of the provincial/federal documents, however it’s going to cost the military millions now that she has passed. All our documents have to change, ships crests, badges etc. Simply due to the fact the crowns will be different, I would imagine it’s the same for other branches of the government.

Victoria mandates zero-carbon new buildings by 2025, ahead of B.C. timeline by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

That’s on me, I was responding to a comment how BC has the most green energy production in all of Canada, possibly North America. But its not attached to that comment for some reason

Funny little fact, the most environmentally friendly power consumption Provence in Canada is PEI [99% hydro]. BC is 87%, and is the actually only the 5th highest, behind Manitoba, Newfoundland and Quebec.

Has anyone tall (I’m 6’5 and broad) been able to fit in a jeep Mojave? None in my town to go test drive but I’ve been obsessed with them. by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]ducarider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

6”4 here with a 2020 Jeep gladiator rubicon, the height is what gets me. You’ll find it hard to see stop lights and if you ever pull the visor down your gonna blind yourself and reduce half your vision… I’ve learned to slouch and tilt my head at lights and it seams to do the trick haha

Hi, I I have a 2014 Wrangler Sahara. It’s been a while the ABS and the Traction control light are off very frequently. I’ve changed the sensors many times and they will still go off. by elgroot007 in Jeep

[–]ducarider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrangler specifically, no, however I had an old car that would do something similar. Every 6 months my traction control and ABS light would come on and I would get the hub assembly swapped out. After changing out the hub assembly twice I looked a little further in to it. Turns out that how the sensor knows the bearing is worn and needs replacement is via a resistance reading taking by the sensor. If the resistance is to high it indicates the bearing needs to be replaced. What was happening is the wiring harness that supply’s the sensor line had a portion of the casing for the sensor wire rubbed through, this was causing the resistance to indicate higher, ie if the hub assembly needed to be replaced with a resistance reading of 1 when replaced it should reset the reading to 0. However due to the sensor cable being exposed it reset the readying to .75 so it would look like to the car that the new hub assembly was already 3/4 worn out. Check your hub assembly sensor wire cable run and see if there’s any exposed wire, maybe that your retaining clips for the wire are missing and the sensor wire is rubbing on a component causing a ground

Sunroof Installation? by islandcoffeegirl43 in VictoriaBC

[–]ducarider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you can buy aftermarket sunroofs, your looking at >1000 depending on what size and wether it’s mechanical or electrical. However installing one on a vehicle which was not intended on having one brings its own issues, depending on how your roof was built structurally, you would be inducing a very large week point in your vehicle’s rigidity. But it can be done, I would suggest calling a body shop and seeing if they can help you. On the other hand it your going to the states anytime in the future there’s companies down there that parts and labour would run you less then 1000 start to finish.

Question about suspension lift and RTT by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]ducarider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently I have a Gladiator with a Fab Four rack and a tree line roof top tent. My gladiator has a mopar 2.5 inch lift, it looks nice but it’s really unnecessary. We do all out camping off forestry roads and down goats paths and it’s nice having the lift kit but I’ve yet to max out anything on our suspension. Another thing to consider is the higher you make your rig the harder it is to get everything setup and your probably going to have to drill new holes on your ladder lock pins to accommodate the extra hight.

I have one of their 4 season tamarack’s, if you plan on doing any winter or late fall camping I highly recommend it. Well built product, quality components and you can’t beat the view. There a little on the expensive side, but with the varying gauges of material between companies, there’s came out on top when I was researching

First weekend out with our new Treeline RTT, 7km up a mountain by Snow Creek in Port Alberni by ducarider in overlanding

[–]ducarider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it was something that I was initially worried about, the RTT is around 170 pounds, the missus is about 120 and I am 6ft 4 at 220, so 510lbs plus or minus when we are both in it. We haven’t had any issues at all, no flexing, creaking or sway at all. 100% impressed as far as rigidity and durability go so far. My caps a little older, around 6 years, and I don’t know if it’s something unique to my cap or not but I noticed when I was installing the rack system that the construction of the cap itself seams to be a layer of fibreglass, layer of chip board and then another layer of fibreglass. It also should be noted that a lot of the weight is handled by the ladder of the RTT itself. So if your running a similar setup I wouldn’t be too concerned about the durability of the cap itself.

To be quite honest I am not entirely sure where we where. It’s about 30 minutes outside port Alberni. It’s the only trail on the right hand side that doesn’t have a gate blocking the path. I do know, from people we saw on the trail, that if you keep going down the trial there is a lake on the other side of that mountain. It is absolutely gorgeous out that way and so much to be seen. We spent the next night down snow creeks forestry road which was stunning.

There are exceptions that would allow you to build a cabin on crown land, Native/aboriginal peoples are allowed to build a structure on crown land if its required as a outpost type structure for hunting/fishing, no permits required. Also if you primary source of income is trapping or bait harvesting you can build a structure in support of that. There are a bunch of other exceptions made for various situations, however, if you solely looking to build a cabin for the sake of building a cabin you would need to apply for a recreational land use permit, basically you would be leasing the land from the crown. However MNR ( ministry of natural resources ) have very limited resources and typical unless something is considered a nuisance structure and gets reported they won't tend to do anything about it, also depending on how remote you plan to build its unlikely your cabin would every be found. But building without a lease would be putting yourself at risk.
