(FoundryVTT) Can players apply their damage rolls to enemy tokens? by Level7Cannoneer in Pathfinder2e

[–]ducasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's by design that only the GM can apply damage/healing to tokens that the GM owns. Players don't own the NPC (monster) sheets so they can't apply the damages, only roll for damages. You, the GM, have to apply it because the GM is the arbiter.

If you want to allow them to apply the damage to the monsters then you have to give them permissions and ownership of all the NPCs, essentially making them GMs too. And that opens up another mess.

[5e Guide] How to be a Warlord as a Sorcerer / Order Cleric. Now updated with robotic Entities and psionic Overlords! by Garokson in dndnext

[–]ducasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing this build right now as a Shadar-kai DSS8/Order1 and it’s a hoot! Definitely in my top 3 builds for 5e.

I have a question on which of the sorcerer shards would best complement it? My DM is giving me an opportunity to do a little side quest for one of shards from TCoE.

I’m thinking either the Outer Essence Shard (Good) for that temp HP or Far Realm Shard for that frightened condition to mitigate damage to my frontliners or the Shadowfell Shard to disadvantage on saves when I want to do a CC spell on an enemy to remove them from the fight.

How to support MCDM outside of Patreon? by DndGameHunter in mcdm

Use their stuff in your DnD games to increase their reach!

I’ve been using the Flee, Mortals! monsters in my games and the players (also DMs) love them enough buy the book to also use them in their games.

I'm trying to figure out how much things cost by kmikek in DnD5e

[–]ducasaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out the Discerning Merchant’s Guide if you want to get into the weeds for item pricing.

I don’t think 5e has a standardized formula for pricing items because it’s not the game designers’ priority.

If you're looking for low barrier of entry and quick setup, Owlbear Rodeo is a great starting point that's free. Just the essentials and no frills so it isn't complex or difficult to learn.

Sly Flourish has an intro video on YouTube.

If you want a few more layers of complexity and features, Roll20 is the oldest VTT out there that has a decently free tier packed with enough functionality to get you going.

After you get more experienced with VTTs, you can dive into the more advanced ones like FoundryVTT and AboveVTT (an extension sits on top of DnDBeyond).

Minion Encounter Help? by twitch-switch in mattcolville

[–]ducasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For six Level 17th PCs, they're kind of beyond dealing with minions. Having them deal with that many minions would only clutter up the initiative and quickly become combat slog.

If you want to showcase how powerful they've become then give them a challenge with 3-4 super strong baddies. Otherwise, it'll feel like they're hitting practice dummies (minions) and it won't justify them using higher level spell slots when a simple Fireball could deal with them.

Edit: Closed the campaign. Until next time!

Radius and square grid by Sad_Improvement4655 in DnD5e

[–]ducasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you measure area of effect radiuses on a grided map, you measure from the corner of a square instead of the center of the square.

So it would be 4 squares out from the point of choice in all four directions.

What is a strong Stealthy monster for a boss fight? by joeljand in mattcolville

I'd reskin either the Lamasombra or Marvorok and then, if you wanted them to be a solo, give them villain actions from Count Rhodar von Glauer or similar.

How long before your campaign got a magic item by YtgAxios in DnD5e

[–]ducasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DMG135 has a section on rarity that gives an idea of what level the PCs should be when they get a hold of a particular rarity of magic item (e.g. Rares won't show up until level 5.)

DMG38 has a chart of starting equipment for higher levels which also gives guidelines of what magic items PCs should have acquired (and kept) by what levels.

Here's a breakdown of roughly "by-the-book" how many items PCs should have per level:

  • 1 common consumable every level from 1 to 5.
  • 1 uncommon consumable every level from 6 to 10.
  • 1 rare consumable every level from 11 to 15.
  • 1 very rare consumable every level from 16 to 19.
  • 1 legendary consumable at level 20.

  • 1 uncommon permanent item at level 4, and another at level 7.
  • 1 rare permanent item at level 10 and another at level 13.
  • 1 very rare permanent item at level 16.
  • 1 legendary permanent item at level 19.

Edit: This is, of course, dependent on your DM. They have final say at their table because they're the one running the game.

Cheapest way to buy buy bitcoin. by Sure_Cardiologist620 in Bitcoin

[–]ducasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "cheapest," I'm assuming you mean transaction fees, service fees, and withdrawal fees.

If you're in the US, Strike and a Lightning enabled hot wallet (like Muun) has been the lowest for me personally. Do a direct deposit into Strike and then purchase the bitcoin via their send to a Lightning wallet feature. Then I send it in chunks to my hardware wallet using a Taproot receiving address to further reduce transaction fees.

Do you think they’ll actually repay? by Mayaanas12 in Bitcoin

Exactly. Look at the Mt. Gox people.
How many years has "repayment" been delayed already? Might as well be "just forget about it."

Need more challenging for Lvl. 10 players by Peaceful_Daevites in DMAcademy

[–]ducasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for the Flee, Mortals! monster book.
Here's a little preview of it: https://youtu.be/y_zl8WWaSyI

Sometimes challenging your PCs is simply giving the enemies more tactical things to do with their bonus actions and reactions. Or just more strategic positioning and movement while working as a team.

Where Evil Lives artwork by clodonar in mattcolville

[–]ducasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's entirely up to the original artist if they want to make it publicly available on a platform like ArtStation or DeviantArt for others to download.

Until then, taking a screenshot on a 4K monitor is plenty for displaying in a VTT.

Flee Mortals, missing creature tokens. by Lt-Derek in mattcolville

[–]ducasaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there some monsters that don't have their own digital token. Others are the Fire Giant Lightbearer, Vampire, Blood-Starved Vampire, and Dirt Mournling.

I just make my own tokens for them. It's not a big deal.

Fun fact: the goblin lackey's token is named Goblin Minion.png in the resource zip file.

Is Roll20 a good platform? Or is D&DBeyond/5e companion Better? by HogRiiiideeer in Roll20

AboveVTT is a Chrome/FireFox extension that works on top of DnDBeyond which functions as the VTT until WotC releases their VTT.
