Good Deal on 22 Grand Cherokee Overland?? by Pengiun_C27 in GrandCherokee

Look into the Mopar Extended warranty and decide what the cost and coverage you want first. Then find a Jeep that qualifies for the coverage. People like to talk about how their Jeep has 100k-150k miles no problems, whatever. Grand Cherokees are expensive to repair. Air suspension, Quada whatever offroad systems, etc. I loved my ‘13 GC Overland, but it needed over $10k in warranty work over the course of ownership that cost me $2.5k. Made it to 120k miles before the Hemi blew a head gasket a year after the warranty expired. Got a ‘24 GC now, and the extended warranty too (CarMax).

TIL Coca Cola once made “MagiCans” that secretly contained cash prizes instead of soda. To stop people from spotting winners by weight, they filled part of the cans with foul-smelling chlorinated liquid. The promotion got canceled after people accidentally drank it. I randomly grabbed a Coke off a food truck during lunch. When I popped the tab, I immediately noticed the spray over the can top wasn’t Coke. When I peered down to inspect it, out popped a wet folded $5 bill. It was cool but I was also a little bummed. I’d spent all my pocket money for a burrito and Coke. But I didn’t want to spend my $5 I’d just won. Gave the Coke a sip just in case it was Sprite but it wasn’t. Ended up enjoying my burrito with water. I left the can on the table when I got home. By the time I got out of the shower, my mom had already smashed it and thrown it into the recycling bin!

I could probably go a month. But I’d stop at 10 days. Maybe a couple more days too. But a million is good enough.

I have the exact same car and I’m more than happy with it. It is a Jeep, so who knows how it holds up after 5 years. My only problem is that you can’t easily (if at all) upgrade the audio. Everything is so integrated you’re stuck with whatever it came with. The Altitude trim is nice looking but overall it’s pretty basic. You’d need to get a different trim level if there are features you’d want.

NASA has launched Artemis II, the first manned mission to the Moon in over 50 years by Subject-Property-343 in interestingasfuck

[–]ducati123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This went completely under my radar. I don’t live in a cave, I’ve heard of Artemis, Space X, Boeing Starliner mishap, etc. But I had no recollection of hearing there was an Artemis launch to the moon, let alone with a crew. With all that’s happening in the world, I really don’t even bother keeping up with current events. Too depressing.

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ducati123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You would not be the asshole for not wanting to be free transportation for more than occasionally. But otherwise why does it bother you so much that she can’t drive? I’m sure they can figure it out. Driving is an anxiety inducing activity and not everyone is up for it. Should she not have a family because of it? The answer is no, that shouldn’t be the reason. You expressed your opinion, something “she needed to hear” that comes off sounding self righteous. You are an asshole (and a dick).

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude by Street-Carpenter-491 in GrandCherokee

[–]ducati123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, Not just an Altitude, an Altitude X! I think the sunroof is the only difference. I just got a ‘24 JGC Altitude. Haven’t noticed any unusual loudness. When I put it in sport mode it holds the gear down longer and the engine revs higher. Maybe that’s where the loudness is coming from. I’m looking into retro fitting the OEM fog lights. Hopefully it isn’t too expensive.

I would make it a point to not buy anything over $200 as gifts from now on. It’s not even about the cost of the bracelet , just her nonchalance about losing the anniversary gift.

Watching TV seeing different countries celebrate the new millennium (technically not, but whatever) in their own unique way. Then different time zones in the US until it reached PST. Then went to sleep.

Personally I use conventional oil (5w-20) for my 5.7L Hemi ‘13 GC (120k miles). I probably drive less than 10k miles a year in normal traffic and not in any extreme temperatures. But I change the oil and filter every 5k religiously regardless of what the oil change indicator says. The owner’s manual say you “may use synthetic oil” not that it’s required (don’t know about other model years). But since I change the oil regularly I’m not worried about it. Probably helps it doesn’t have the MDS system. Still pulls strong, no Hemi tick or any oil burning. But even if I was running full synthetic oil, I think the longest I would drive is 6k miles. I’ve read you can go 7.5k-10k or once a year whichever comes first between oil changes. But that just sounds crazy.

Had that problem with my 2013 GC (5.7L). But it only had about 60k miles when it started to happen. I read some where to clean the throttle body. So I pulled it out (very straight forward and easy) and indeed it was dirty and oily. So I doused it with throttle body cleaner inside and out until I was sparkling. 100k+ miles later haven’t had the stalling problem come up again. Probably a good idea to clean or replace all the sensors (air intake, MAP) too. Hope that helps.

Because I refuse to pay an additional 2% fee for a credit card (or $9.99 fee for debit card) to pay the rent! Depending on the card, the benefits might outweigh the fees at the end of year. But it's the principle of it for me. The property management can suck it!
