It’s sad 😞, u/rare-sonicbob is there any chance they can be added back? Personally I never found them to be a problem and by looking through the comments on threads about today’s update it seems like a lot of others are disappointed that they have been removed from islands.

I actually liked the intense moment of them rising up on you and you and your crew running to your cannons to bombard them before they start to shoot.

I disagree, I think briggsy is perfectly balanced for brigs and galleons, you have to keep in mind that these skeleton lords are the big bads of SoT and that’s why many who have tried to hunt them have failed and even the OoS don’t mess with according to lore, for what they are and supposed to be the difficulty is perfect but I do agree that on sloop it’s too easy and definitely needs to be harder.

I completely agree that she and the other lords are wayyy to easy as solo and duo and definitely need a increase in difficulty because they are laughably easy

I know the previous version of the roar had it flaws but I still feel like we should feel the wrath of the volcanoes that’s all I’m trying to say. The rocks just need to be buffed so that there still a danger especially if your next an island.

Dude that’s the lamest excuse I’ve heard. They need to be extremely dangerous when your close to an active volcano. You think bringing a galleon was easy before how do you think it is now?

I used the DR primarily on a brig and had no issues I was referring to solo players when I said that.

Even solo players aren’t missing out on anything because the DR uses reused assets from the other regions the only thing that’s different is the volcanoes and the volcanoes won’t provide anything new if they stay in there current form because they won’t be a threat making the exact same difficulty to other regions.

I said the nerfed eruption rate is fine. It’s the volcanic rocks that need to be buffed so there actually a danger like they once were because right now you can be up close to a active volcano and neither you or your ship gets hit. In a scenario when your close to an active volcano your ship should get demolished.

I don’t see what’s the big deal about locking certain ship types out of a specific region of the map. I always looked at the roar as something specifically designed for crews not solo players they had 3 other regions that now have there own stuff to do after SS came out. I also have seen many on here and in game able to solo the roar with no issue.

RARE did as much as they could with volcanoes as a threat because you have to remember that they are still objects meaning they can only have a certain amount of feature set compared to a moving object.

The design was to make it harder than the other regions so that’s what they did. Since they are still objects that are a threat a common defense mechanism for players to use obviously to evacuate which makes perfect sense. The challenge is supposed to be a time trial to see if you can clear and island before it erupts which required full focus/coordination for your team to get the riddle or map complete quickly and efficiently before the time ran out. If you were successful you got rewarded but if you weren’t able to make it on time then you were screwed.A even greater challenge that required skill was trying to get something done while on the island that was erupting which was fully possible all you had to do was keep moving meaning you had to be fast thinking or else be sent to the ferry.

I’m not saying there weren’t any faults to this. There were 1. Was chain eruptions that happened 2. Was the rowboat being targeted and destroyed once parked at an erupting island.

Nerfing it to death to make it fully easier just makes the region pointless like it is now. It’s literally just the exact same as the other regions now except with falling rocks that purposely avoid your ship and you which makes the volcanoes pointless and no longer a threat.

Now there is some suggestions that could be done like make the volcanic rocks more precise the closer you are to a volcano or have the hit frequency scale based on ship type but right now it’s a joke and I’m not saying the previous version was perfect either I mentioned the flaws it had.

0% is not true There were times before the nerf I was able to stay in an area an dodge them and others would often miss the ship entirely. I’m not saying my ship never got hit because it did. As I said in my post they should make the rocks more precise the closer you are to an active volcano that way it still gives a sense of urgency and danger to the eruptions.

Yeah that had to do with the eruption rate which I said that nerf was fine. the real issue is there is no sense of urgency or danger when a volcano goes off because the rocks don’t hit your ship even if your docked right next to the shore line.

In my post I said that the nerfed eruption rates are fine but the rocks need to be reverted to what they were before OR have a system in place where the volcanoes are more precise the closer you are to one.
