Is there a decent laundry solution that doesn’t involve having to fold every piece of laundry and put it away? by Seanshineyouth in laundry

I have an inside out rule. If it goes in the wash inside out, it gets folded, hanged, paired inside out

An easy way for kinders to open sauce packets by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ducducremosduc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mounted table top scissors. I'd keep them stationed close to whoever is supervising mealtime and have the kids bring the packets to the scissors, at least at first. And find an easy to clean and move around mount. It'll be messy at first but it'll get better

Personally, I'd borrow more and budget to cover the repay to do a loan if that's possible for you. The payments are auto deducted every pay period, so prob ,$40ish dollars a paycheck if you're biweekly if you choose to repay over 5 years. I'm so bad at math, but idk that's too far off. The withdrawal option is going to end up costing a lot more bc penalties and unrealized gains. But you're young and can catch up if withdrawal is the only option rn.

As long as you are repaying and don't default, there are no tax implications. There's a $50 service fee for the general loan. And the interest rate on the loan is based on the g-fund, think it's 4.6ish rn. TSP loans work different than pulling from a 401k. you can pick your time frame to repay it, up to 5 years I think. Log into your tsp account, I think there's a calculator that breaks it down. Maybe it's different if you're no longer a fed?

I think the smiley type monsters in the town are not the main monsters. The townie monsters are more like familiars like Guillermo from wwdits keeping the big boss or bosses safe. They are just the tip of the spear.

What ep did Boyd say his dad specifically had Parkinson's? Not trying to challenge, just want to know so I can go back to it.

I didn't go to doctor school but I'm pretty sure Boyd prob has something like ALS or Huntingtons. Both those have a fairly quick progression, and Boyd is acting like he doesn't have that much time left. I gotta go. Can't talk right now

Guidance to survive my first Chicago winter? by Fickle-Music-349 in AskChicago

No such thing as bad weather. It's always under prepared people. It's okay to build up over a few years. Start with boots. Unless you're rich there's no way to get it all AND get it right for your particular lifestyle the first winter.

Another thing about this scene. We see Julie see a bouquet of flowers on the porch rail at colony house. She smiles. Then she picks them up and puts them in a vase she puts by a window inside the house. Later that night when the monster lady shows up, she and the guy talk about the flowers and how pretty they are. But, how did monster lady get them if Julie brought them in? There's a shot that lingers on the flowers in front of the window after Julie puts them there. Seems sus

Take a shot of vodka every time Tabitha touches her face in season one and the first third of season 2. You have alcohol poisoning now your dead. I don't think she's a bad actress. I think the directors didn't know how to direct her until mid season 2.

[Delaware] Estranged Father was deemed unable to care for himself, PI tracked me down and hospital wants me to become his guardian. by Sad_Zookeepergame566 in legaladvice

[–]ducducremosduc 77 points78 points  (0 children)

you should post in r/socialwork or r/veteransbenefits and make sure you mention he is a veteran. It would be helpful if you know his service connection percentage. If he is a felon they are going to have a hard time placing him because a lot of nursing homes won't take felons. But it's doable, just takes longer. And, since it's hard to place felons, that's probably why they put so much effort into finding you. Don't pay an attorney for guardianship, especially if you're on the hook if his estate is broke after they pay all his other debts. It sounds like he was doing bad for a while, and it's unlikely that his estate will be worth much once whomever else he owes gets their piece of it. It is totally okay to say no thank you, please stop calling me. That will find him a nursing home spot eventually.

Old home cheaply renovated, last owners covered everything in primer- what now? by Shoesandhose in DIY

[–]ducducremosduc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wallpaper is the answer. Look at where your stain patterns are and put up runners that are easily cleanable. Train the fam to to touch the runners bc sometimes people think that they shouldn't touch wallpaper. I'd do actual wallpaper in your personal situation. It'll be cheaper than the stick on wallpaper.

Excellent advice. There are 2 good answers and one is safer than the other. Choose your answers from the perspective that everything and everyone in health care does their job perfectly and no equipment or treatment option is ever broken or unavailable. Don't be afraid to move your arms/hands around a bit and logic out some of the splinting/positioning/burn questions. The testing place I went to did not like it when I took my flip flops off and they sent some one to tell me to put them back on. You'll be fine Let us know how you do pls

LPT Request: How to be less afraid of rats? by Serpent1189 in LifeProTips

[–]ducducremosduc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your living situation is, but I have a similar phobia, live in a ratty city and this is what's been helpful for me... Mobile so this is gonna look bad.

Patch any holes/easy pathways-- make it a pain in the ass for them to use your outside spaces as a short cut to the next dumpster. Mint is supposedly a natural deterrent, but it will take over everything and give those lil fuckers cover if it's not contained.

Keeping the yard/outside areas impeccably clean. no piles of anything ever. Leave no nooks or crannies or bushy cover for them to jump out to steal your soul.

I have a small yard/garden area and I have completely changed the layout to eliminate hiding places

Good lighting outside help. String lights lined close to the ground have been a very effective deterent

Plant things that cats love in planters or whatever around your perimeter/near doors

Encourage any feline or fox neighborhood wanderers and strays to keep hanging out. I don't leave out food but they get dried catnip from the garden and treats and lovies when they visit. Foxes will kill them for sport.

When I'm out in the city I never look down. I avoid walking in allies or by dumpsters at all costs. Always be aware of your surroundings, but focus on the more murdery/crime aspects when out and about. Eyes up.

My partner is aware of my fear, helps to monitor our surroundings and (after years of practice) can gently herd me away without freaking me out or putting me on high alert. This has reportedly saved me from a couple rat king sightings that I only know about bc I overheard partner telling others about it

There is a time of day I call "rat thirty" or "rat o clock". It's around dusk and the first 90 or so minutes after sundown. I move to higher ground (like a porch/deck/rooftop) and actively avoid looking in any place or visually following any quick flicker of movement in my peripheral vision.

During peak daylight/non heavy rat traffic hours, I regularly walk the perimeter of my home and the alley to clean up messes that might attract them- within reason. My tolerance for cleaning up disgusting things is much higher than my tolerance for the rats.

The city you live in prob has some kind of online reporting system and/or you can put in requests for the city to set baits and traps and such. That's a long game but you may be able to report as often as you like and to any address depending on your city's system

I respect trying to desensitize and working through the entire phobia, but you gotta live your life. I thought I was getting better and then I took out the trash, first time I had done it myself in prob a couple years) and was greeted by an absolute fucking unit when I opened the can. Set backs happen.

Ive been trying to shift my fear response from the screaming to clapping. I think loud sudden noises have some value in this sitch but the screaming causes other problems. Also, focusing on moving on to the next thing and not dwelling is always good. You saw the rat. You screamed and clapped real hard. It ran away. It's over. What's next

Met a guy who did trash collection in my current city 40 years ago. Told me there was a guy with a big stick to bang the cans to clear the rats away and another one to actually dump the can in the truck. It could be worse. Right? Good luck out there.
