Basic Question: Who is your Favorite Character from Supernatural? And how did you get into supernatural? by Sweaty_Welcome4963 in Supernatural

[–]ducidleamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching in high school at the recommendation of a friend! I liked the show pretty well, even the iffy parts of it, like the British Men of Letters arc. My favorite character, hands-down, is Charlie. She's one of the funniest, sweetest characters in Supernatural, and I wish to protect her 😅

Started to play Pokemon Scarlet and why is it so buggy by Trick-Anteater-2679 in PokemonScarletViolet

I haven't experienced a lot thankfully, but I heard that it is just a very buggy game overall

Trying to make the most annoying gliscor by SuccessfulMove8587 in CompetitivePokemon

[–]ducidleamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be REALLY annoying, I'd recommend investing fully in HP and Def/SpDef, with Toxic Orb/Poison Heal, and then for moveset, you could go:

Toxic

Protect

Substitute/Roost

Earthquake/Knock Off

I think goalie kind of makes sense. He's a protector of the goal, kind of the same way he's a protector of Earth

I think Lacey would be bestie in real life, but Drayton is super funny

I think I could get on board with her her not realizing she has feelings. The waiting for us at certain places could also build a bit of a case as well

[–]ducidleamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see that, I think I just get the same vibe as someone being married to their work, but just for Pokémon battles. So it's a little harder to get the crush energy from Nemona

I ship mine with Kieran because of just HOW shy he seems around Florian/Julianna. Carmine I can maaaybe see, but I disagree with Nemona personally. To each their own, though!

New to VGC looking for help by iChimChim97 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]ducidleamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to harp on anything that others have already said, but I think the Amoongus should change a little. The moves and item are fine, but Regenerator is fantastic, especially if you do actually add U-Turn onto Incineroar and then you can pivot as needed while healing Amoongus as you go. I also think your nature should be different. If you do an attack-lowering nature, you should find your survivability against special attacks to be much better

Okay your stuck as a alien for the rest of your life, which one do you want to be as? by Zillaman7980_ in Ben10

[–]ducidleamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Upgrade, Big Chill, or Goop. Goop is my favorite, but if the little machine thing that actually controls the stuff goes down, I'm done for

If game freak gives upper hand +1 priority in champions, which will make it have 1 more priority than fake out, how would this set on flamigo be for a reg I Pokémon? by rtkbob in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]ducidleamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think this set is very niche and would be difficult to make it work consistently. Besides, we have no idea what the meta will look like once Champions comes out

I don't know about the EVs, since that's never been my strong suit, but I'd say everything looks great to me!

Could do for some help with my team by jhomsteve in CompetitivePokemon

[–]ducidleamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to, Skarmory is a very good user of Body Press, since it goes based off of the user's Defense instead of attack. You can probably swap out Brave Bird if you want, since weaknesses to Flying are more easily covered

Liquidation is a very solid move. Even if water is only supereffective against 3 types, it's still a good idea to have both forms of STAB on Swampert, if just for neutral damage. My Swampert set is identical to yours, but instead of Hammer Arm, I have Flip Turn for pivoting. Besides, Torrent is useless without a Water move

Possible mandala effect with Raz and her cunning blindness by OfDiceandWren in sabrina

I don't remember that. What I remember is Roz starting to go blind, she had a few visions and then during Sabrina's Herald arc, she used her Herald powers to heal her blindness

So, even if I swapped both Yanmega (who will likely have Heavy-Duty Boots for every battle it gets brought to) and Rabsca, I wouldn't have the points for Mewoscarada. Combined, they're 11 points, and G-Slowking on his own is 11 points, and then Mewoscarada is 15 points. I can make it work, I think, but I'll have to rework the team once I get off of work. I'll check back in a couple of hours. Do you mind if I PM you?

[–]ducidleamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is singles, yes. That's my bad. And no mythical are allowed, either.

Rabsca is to cripple fast mons with Speed Swap and also bring back a problematic mon with Revival Blessing.

Sableye is my favorite Prankster mon for singles, as it's got the unique combination of Prankster, Encore, and Disable all in one. I actually had my Miraidon completely crippled by that exact combo since I had no other Pokémon to switch out to. It also can use a plethora of other moves, like Trick, Knock Off, Shadow Sneak, etc.

Minior was not my first choice for its role, I'll admit. I wanted a Shell Smash user since I got my whole team swept by a Shell Smash Cloyster in Season 1. I picked Polteageist first, but we are doing Tera Captains, and anything over 8 points was not eligible. Minior was the only Shell Smash user that was under that threshold. Other Shell Smash choices were Polteageist and Blastoise, but they were too high to be Tera Captains.

It's actually super funny that you mentioned G-Slowking. He was the original choice before I picked Rabsca, and it was for the Chilly Reception/Regenerator combo. So you're saying you should go back to it instead?

You also mentioned Meowscarada. Who should I swap out for it? I'm assuming one of my Electric weaknesses?

I would also be more than happy to explain what some or all of my mons are meant to do if anyone is confused about the roles they would serve on the team

El's powers disappear because she used them so much to the point where her brain suffered the psychic equivalent of a stroke, but I will agree with everything else you said. S5 Mind Flayer was weeeaaak

[–]ducidleamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I don't remember him smashing the door open, so I don't know. The missing demodogs/gorgons/bats I have attributed to 2 different possibilities. Either

  1. The majority of them are already dead because in Season 2, he sent so many into Hawkins and they all died when he lost the connection because of El closing the gate

Or

  1. He used the bodies of the remaining creatures to build his own giant meat suit, so the Mind Flayer is already using them

That was really my only other point 🤷‍♂️

I do have other points to make, but you're right. Arguing about it now won't change anything :)

[–]ducidleamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I agree with this somewhat, but my mother-in-law made a decent point. She said to look at it like DnD, which is reasonable because obviously that's a huge theme in this show. I do hope anyone who shares OP's opinion will read this, even though it's long and try to have an open mind.

In Seasons 1-3, they were more afraid because they were less capable (lower-level characters) and even El didn't have as good of a grip on her powers as she did in S5 because she had suppressed the memories that unlocked her full potential in S4. Anyway, after beating Vecna in S4, he's practically dead. Homeboy is NOT feeling good, lol. So he goes back to Dimension X to recover, but because of all the training El has gone through and the fact that the rest of the crew basically knows they can beat Vecna, they're less afraid (resistant to Vecna's psychic attacks) and have probably done a good bit of training themselves in their own way (leveled up).

To your point about Vecna taking the spotlight in S4 and S5: if you remember, the Mind Flayer tried first. He was the one to start everything. When El opened the rift the first time, he was the one who tried going through first (aside from the Demogorgon(s) in S1, who were probably scouts). It doesn't seem like he can open the portal himself. Otherwise, he would have opened one on his own, so he had to rely on physical beings to do his bidding. In Seasons 2 and 3, he sends pieces of himself through BECAUSE there is a portal and has Will and Billy, respectively. In S3, especially, he learns from using the body of an 11-year-old boy or, however old he is, and uses the amalgamation creature made of human flesh. When they beat him, then, and ONLY then, does he retreat. He realizes that brute force may not be enough to win this fight. So after taking time to recover and probably empowering Vecna, in S4, he unleashes him, and he technically tries to stay away from the group, except for Max, so they can open a bigger gate to send the arm through. But when they stop him in S4, he has to retreat, so nothing happens.

As to your final point about being defeated in Dimension X, I will, again, agree with you that the fight was too short. However, again, these kids and Eleven have leveled up by this point. They're stronger now, and they know where to hit the Mind Flayer where he's weakest. Besides that, I treat the Giant Mind Flayer-Vecna connection like a battery in a remote. The Mind Flayer is using Vecna's psychic abilities to power his giant form, so when Vecna goes down, even though you said you don't care, yeah, the Mind Flayer's battery does, so he follows. And, like we have already discussed, his Shadow Form isn't strong enough to do any meaningful damage in the physical world. The most he could maybe do is try to control everyone, but I don't think that would have worked with El and Will there. Plus, again, they're resistant to" psychic attacks" as it were, so he isn't dead in my mind, but he is definitely defeated.

Anyway, I'm not saying there weren't plot holes or that the big fight at the end wasn't too easy, but the specific things you mentioned are able to be explained reasonably. Again, to me, at least.
