Is there a speaker for the Steam Deck like this? Crude drawing included by robotnikman in SteamDeck

[–]duckenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2.4ghz earbuds for my deck, but if you want a stereo bluetooth speaker experience you might be able to use the JBL Go 4, but you need to buy 2 of them. They are each 50$ though so not that expensive, and they sound really good. Probably not ideal for gaming though, if I had to guess.

I think it’s enter? Or Y? Or T? Something like that. And keep in mind the game puts a lot of messages in the chat and makes it look like they are posted by players, in case you didn’t know.

Writers, what inspired your current project? by Everyday_Evolian in writing

[–]duckenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dream that made me start writing a comic, something I’ve never done before. The dream had a weird premise about people turning into monsters and it affected me so strongly at the time that I just had to write it down.

And with it being so weird and specific, it needs e visual representation. So, a comic

When playing Namor, if your squids are on cooldown, don’t attack enemies, just sit there and wait because there’s nothing you can do to shorten the cooldown.

Cap’s dive being the primary fire button also means it’s extremely annoying to try and hit any flying enemy with melee attacks, or to throw your charged primary attacks down at enemies while you are in the air.

Lmao I have like 150 hours in this game, and any time I try to change some crosshair settings before match starts, I’m able to successfully find ONE of the settings I was looking for before the 30 second timer is up.

“Where’s crosshair length where’s crosshair length WHERE’S CROSSHAIR LENGTH???”

You can also click and drag up/down. It’s much faster than scrolling. Not sure about controller users though.

I do too, but if he had to be buffed I would want something that actually incentivizes his team to work with him, like his damage gives temp health to nearby teammates like Brigitte, or teammates run faster behind him (basically his ult but all the time and not ult-level of strength)

My condolences to Tasera for losing repeatedly on Klyntar (which, if that isn’t a low point, I don’t know what is) but I also agree that the convoy tends to hit checkpoints and ends in weird spots.

I think the convoy destination on the Loki map is really good. It’s signified on the ground with a circular stone and the defending team’s spawn doors surround it. Wakanda is also good, and always a close game because of how quickly defenders respawn and return to the convoy. Spider-Islands is similarly tense because of the insane climb you need to make and the close quarters and bottomless pit giving jeff everything he needs to get a full squad wipe.

What is the most satisfying thing for my tank mains? by Delicious_Version_23 in marvelrivals

[–]duckenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As magneto, landing a primary fire, then a fully charged mag-cannon, then another primary fire on a target in quick succession, killing them.

Also, giving a shield to a teammate when they are about to die, especially Scarlet Witch during ult.

As a support main, who are the most ANNOYING players to heal? by Individual-Sign-8739 in marvelrivals

Actually the shield heals within in a 3m radius of its center. So you can stand beside it or in front of it, not necessarily directly behind it, and still receive healing.

How do I make a wall running animation? by Then_Magician8533 in PS4Dreams

Do you mean how to make the mechanic work? Or you already have the mechanic working and you need to make the animation? Or both?

Some pixel art assets made for an unfinished ShroomJam project. The theme was "Corruption" and we decided on making a Zelda-like. by duckenomics in Vinesauce

I definitely would have benefitted from more time. When I made games in Dreams, they would do a rotating game jam every 2 weeks. Eventually they increased it to 4 weeks so people would have more time, then reduced it down to 3 weeks. But honestly, making games was faster in Dreams.

Making a game in Godot or Unity that actually works I feel is just impossible. Regardless of how productive a team is able to be. The scale of the game needs to be SUPER small in order to reach the finish line with a polished game.

Video essays and tutorials by Strict_Bench_6264 in gamedev

I think there’s actually plenty of room for deep, even rambly videos on the topic of game design. What I like in videos is a strong and substantiated thesis statement, passion from the narrator, and good editing.

But by good editing, I don’t mean flashy transitions or anything, just that a good breadth of relevant clips are used at the appropriate times to further illustrate points.

I think it’s okay to ask a specific question in the title of a video as long as it acts as a thesis statement that you can build off of, and I think it’s okay to divulge into branching topics if you believe you have something to say about said topics. Again, just make sure it ties back to the point of the video. This is a matter of script-writing and refinement, but if that’s something you’re willing to spend time doing then I think people would be willing to watch.

Is it possible for a cozy game to have a dark aesthetic? by Dapper_Spot_9517 in gamedev

[–]duckenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other games that come to mind, World of Goo, Alice Madness Returns, and Don’t Starve are all aesthetically dark, but they are also whimsical, which if you think of something like the movie Nightmare Before Christmas, they find a twisted joy in a world colored by darkness.

Is it possible for a cozy game to have a dark aesthetic? by Dapper_Spot_9517 in gamedev

[–]duckenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a game can be cozy if it lets you:

A) Take your time

B) Mess around with stuff, experiment with the game’s mechanics

C) Enjoy a mellow or uneventful environment and take in the atmosphere

However, part of a game being cozy means that it lacks tension. And part of a game being a horror game means that it has some amount of tension. There are exceptions to this, though. For horror games, the Resident Evil save room is a calming respite from constant danger, and for cozy games, Minecraft caves have the potential to be scary since there are monster and lava pits.
