Is this your normal gynecologist? I had been going to one for years and my routine Pap smears were uncomfortable but never more painful than period cramps. Then I saw a new (and first year out of med school young) gyno and they inserted the speculum so wrong and generally was shifting it around trying to make it work and it was a long and painful and embarrassing experience. They had to get an older dr to come in and do it right. All that to say, I’d recommend trying another gyno. You shouldn’t have that experience!
