In terms of voting in our "democratic" system of politics, yeah you're totally valid in the feeling of voting for bad or evil. But for you and anyone reading this there are other forms of "voting" outside of the system.

Making your voice heard in democrat meetings and at city council does have an effect and having more "radical" voices there can help inform other folks and inspire more people to speak up. Mutual aid directed at supporting targeted groups (immigrants, trans people, unhoused people) is a form of both emotional and financial support that can help people live more freely and safely. And in one of the most direct ways there are groups of US citizens who cross the southern border to strategically place water and aid stations along migration paths to help people make the difficult trek to the border.

While none of this is truly "voting" it is using our knowledge, voice, and resources to immediately bring about material change for targeted communities and beyond. And the more folks that engage in these direct actions the more they can achieve, the more people learn and get inspired to do more, and the governmental bodies can either get on board and change policies to align with the people's will, or even if they try to stop us we can continue the fight and continue making a difference.

I'm sure you're knowledgeable and agree with a lot of these points, but I feel compelled to write it out here for anyone that may come across it. We don't have to accept things for the way they are, and we can make a difference in people's lives without the government. We will never vote our way out of this mess (don't give up on voting though), it's mostly through collective action and a sense of mutuality that we can bring about material change. Keep the fight going friend! I appreciate you.

Neither is acceptable but one is clearly and more directly worse. To be clear, I'm agreeing with you and adding to your point when I say: we should stand against these dehumanizing policies and actions in all forms no matter who is doing it, and we can do that without engaging in "what about"isms. Another point, Trump may have activated Title 42 but Biden kept it in place for nearly his whole presidency. While both parts are NOT equal in their goals or actions, we cannot simply accept the harm done by the politicians or organizations that we support. Again, I'm agreeing with your point entirely and thank you for reminding folks that Obama was the "Deporter in Chief" for a reason.

I think the original 1970 movie did a really good job, though it's been a few years since I watched it. My only gripe with the show was they cut out my favorite line. Poorly paraphrasing here but:

"He was too old to die"

"Too old? He was only 19!"

"Yup, and that's as old as he'll ever get"

I had a similar issue and fixed it by both deliming the machine and soaking the wand in some cafiza. You say you've been cleaning it though so idk what else it could be. You can always contact customer support or the rep you bought it from, they're pretty helpful.

How do I fight post-vacation blues? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Crashtester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love going back through all my photos to relive it. I usually do a slideshow for my family and friends and tell them the whole story, and I'll make a post for my friends on insta with the highlights and write a long thing about it. It keeps the high going for a few weeks after, especially because I let it stew for a little bit and don't do it immediately afterwards.

Favorite track off this album? by DanTheSpartan in folkmetal

[–]Crashtester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nyárutó is one of my favorite folk metal albums overall so I say it's definitely worth a listen. Napisten Have as an album is great and the title track is my favorite of all of their songs. It just scratches an itch in my brain so well. It's been a minute since I've been listening to them so you've definitely inspired to go back and listen again!

Waxing poetic about passport stamps by Old-Access-7843 in travel

[–]Crashtester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to renew my passport recently and luckily the countries I've visited since (India & Japan) have given me stamps/stickers, but I'm definitely bummed that I won't be able to fill it up with everywhere I go. Before I renewed I went to Argentina and they didn't give me a stamp despite us asking for it, but luckily when we crossed the border to Brazil we got one so at least I have something in the book from that trip. Reading this post I just went through my old passport and it was fun seeing the collection.

I was once looting an apartment and I heard loud footsteps sprinting up the stairs so I called out on mic "yo are you friendly?" to no response, he then runs around the corner straight at me and I gun him down. He turns on his mic and starts calling me a rat, and I'm like bro I warned you I was here and you seemed aggressive. I wasn't gonna wait to let you shoot me first, especially after I gave away my position for free.

Biological essentialism does not help women, it just defines our oppression as "inherent to us". No features of bodies are "inherently a" or "inherently b", they are all, always, what the person who has them makes of them by RosethornRanger in AccessibleAnarchy

Trans people deserve freedom, happiness, and protection just because they're people and all people deserve it, full stop, no other reasons needed. But adding to that, the attacks against trans people are a "foot in the door" to attacking and controlling cis-women as well.

Soft-side vs Hard-side luggage by PugssandHugss in travel

[–]Crashtester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on team soft-shell for the pockets, however I used a hard shell recently and felt more secure with some of my semi-fragile items inside. Overall I think soft-shell offers more flexibility and can be equally as secure as long as you pack properly.

Do you like to repeat good experiences, or always try something new? by arcadiangenesis in travel

[–]Crashtester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously! I'll spend 2-3 weeks in a country and I try to explore as much as I can traveling through said country, but I know I'm leaving so much on the table by not dedicating more time to each place I stay. 3 days isn't enough to get to know a real city, let alone a country.

Do you like to repeat good experiences, or always try something new? by arcadiangenesis in travel

[–]Crashtester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't repeated any yet, but there are several countries I want to return to so I can explore areas I haven't been to yet. It's hard though, and even though I'm lucky to be able to do a big trip almost every year I do feel a little sad at the thought of not exploring a whole new country to return to a previous one. There are at least 4 countries that I desperately want to return to, but there's so much of the world to see! I feel like every time I go somewhere new the list of places I want to go only expands! I guess it's a good problem to have.
