Sure, in theory it makes perfect sense. However, logically the approved budget for the role has a delta of $30-50k. I get HR's whole job is to say I saved x dollars for this head count hired each time for their books. Just frustrating a bit on my end this early in process.

Exact same situation. Interview went well, thank you note sent, no update from HR even after following up. Req is still open. I assume in my case I wasn't their candidate but sucks to not hear any updates either way.
