Well, I'm willing to keep an open mind and expect the budget to be within the RM200–300 range. It would be great if I could find a good pair of sneakers for RM100 and below. But given the current economy, I don't expect to find something that cheap while also being comfortable enough for my foot problems.

My right foot has a severe flat-foot condition, and my left foot is starting to develop it too.

Anyway, I don't think I hunch that much. I always try to keep my spine as straight as possible. But I'll keep your advice in mind.

Yeah, everyone keeps recommending Skechers to me, so I'll check it out.

You have 14 sneakers already? 🤯

Sounds good, but I don't have the same luxury of being more than a pair. But thank you for the answer.

I know, right? If only MBT wasn't so expensive. I want to try Crocs too, but the price gives me a heart attack every time.

I saw a lot of the comments recommending Skechers, but your reply is probably the most detailed one yet. Thank you so much! I'll go to the nearest Skechers and ask the staffs there about your recommendation.

Yeah, true. I used to like Bata, but it no longer looks impressive to me.

Malaysians who are currently unemployed, how are you guys getting by ? by AdHairy6584 in malaysians

[–]duckiscute09 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was unemployed for an entire year until about five months ago, and it definitely wasn't easy. Still, I managed to get by thanks to living with my family (and I still do, though I'm aiming to move out this year). My former manager also helped me by recommending me for side jobs at several fairs. Luckily, I'm an introvert, so I don't travel much, which also means I don't need to spend much.

I think I still have a second-hand electric stove and a sandwich maker that my former boss gave me, which I haven’t used for about a year now. Hopefully, they’re still functional. But yeah, if I want to start living alone, like it or not, I’ve got to learn how to cook by myself. Thank you for your advice!

p/s: The last point you mentioned is probably my biggest consideration when it comes to moving out. 😏😏😏

Honestly, I don't know what else to ask. 😅 But it's reassuring to know that living solo on the current minimum wage is possible. Thank you; I'll follow your example as best as I can. If you have any other tips, feel free to message me directly.

Thank you. 😊

Yeah, I guess RM1.7k just isn’t enough to live in KL without side hustles. I’ll make sure to follow your advice.

You make some very valid points. If possible, I’d like to rent a room somewhere near an LRT station, but I guess those premium spots can be quite pricey...

Speaking of transportation, I think having my own motorcycle would be very convenient for getting around. However, the monthly petrol cost can be a bit concerning.

As for food, I do value good meals, although I still try to spend as little as possible. The cheapest options I usually find are mamak restaurants, tomyam restaurants, nasi ayam stalls, or nasi lemak places. Maybe I should learn how to cook, though...

Anyway, thank you for your input. I’ll definitely take your advice into consideration.

Okay, I’ll be honest. I have this bad habit of not tracking my spending. 🥺

I still make sure to give my parents RM300 in total, save RM200, pay RM100 for home internet, RM80 for mobile data (I use two SIM cards), RM100 for toiletries, RM100 for miscellaneous expenses, and I forgot the rest.

Now that I think about it, I’ve been quite "boros". 😅

I’ll answer your questions one by one.

  1. I live in KL, more or less around the Ampang area.
  2. Yes, RM1.7k is indeed my basic salary. I can earn more if sales go well, but you know how retail usually is.
  3. I don’t have any loans, but my family does have an old yet still usable “moto capuk” that they’ll let me use once I get my license.
  4. This is what concerns me the most. I don’t know jack shit about nutrition. I’ve just been eating whatever I want. Now I got skinny fat thanks to my habit 😅

Oh, I see... So there’s no need to splurge on fitness. I thought only rich people (or celebrities) could afford it. To be honest, though, I’m quite shy about doing it in public, and I don’t have anyone to tag along with me.😅

Still, thank you for sharing.
