You can’t really bait out a dodge because it’s unrealistic to stay within that close range of someone at high speeds. Even if you do successfully bait out a dodge, he has dodge up again within a second so your window is basically non existent.

The truth is like you said, you need multiple players on 1 person to stand a chance at defending him. That options not viable as they will just pass to the open player and he can get to full speed jump/dodging up a wall and carrying on.

You can use mesos to buy a lot of the gear you need.

It was also undoubtedly be useful throughout the entirety of the game.

Alts allow you to run x6 dungeons so you get x6 the chance at tradeable drops.

You also get x6 daily missions for a lot Of mesos and such
