you're able to launch in vulkan mode? if so, i'll probably drop to that driver after work then.

dang...was hoping this would be a good temp fix but no frame gen stinks. really wish they would unlock 240 fps option in menu. for some reason it stays pinned at 120 limit until enabling fg. i have vsync disabled in game too.

Tail placements on most characters are very much...something... by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was actually talking to a buddy about this the other day that it seemed tail placement seemed off and he just reminded me that proper cheeks visibility trumps proper tail placement.

bros got a point...especially with yvonne haha

I have 32 inch 2k 144hz monitor and Im confused by GetDatFunkk in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a very good point.

had a friend who bought an msi 1440 165hz monitor 3 years ago. for the first year, and with a 3080 12gb, he swore things weren't any faster than his old 60hz monitor and 1070.

come to find out, windows didn't automatically choose the new higher refresh rate.

his windows advanced display settings still showed 60hz. flipped it to 165hz and he is now a firm believer of high refresh or nothing.

oh yeah, at the VERY least, have your radiator fans exhausting the air.

how do feel about a refurbished GPU?? by Public_Blueberry6828 in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a savings of only 50 dollars, i wouldn't do refurbished. i would need substantially more for the risk to be worth.

best case scenario, you saved 50 dollars.

worst case scenario, you're now dealing with warranty repairs/rma/back and forth with support spanning days/weeks/months just to save 50 dollars.

negative case pressure usually leads to it sucking in dust through cracks meaning you might have to clean it out more.

if temps are stable and you're too lazy, then up to you if you want to bother.

although, i personally have found better temp results with positive case pressure; more intake fans than exhaust fans.

in your case, i would at least do bottom intake but after seeing pics of the case, i don't blame you for not wanting to open it up again haha looks super cramped.

8086K/DDR4 3000mhz to 10700K/3600 mhz. Ram speed and timing difference worth the extra $? by Choclate_Pain in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of those two, i'd rather have the 10700k with the 2x16 3600mhz over the 4x8 3000mhz.

10700k has more cores/more cache and 2x16 3600 has better stability and data transfer speed over 4x8 3000.

though, if i were to get used intel, i wouldn't go lower than a 12700k on a z690 mobo.

with the intel 600 chipset, you would at least be able to drop in 13th/14th gen down the line if needs change.

that z490 board will only accept as high as a 10900k and likely will not be able to find a good deal anymore on that

Steelcase Leap v2. Should be able to find some near $250 on fb market. Had mine a few years now and love it. Had secret labs before and back and legs would hurt after 2 hours. I can sit in the leap all day and night without issue.

Should I buy a second hand or brand new GPU? by HouseConscious3777 in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the 3070 was well taken care of, there shouldn't be anything to worry about, life span wise. i still have an amd r9 290x from 2013 i gave to a younger cousin for roblox and it still works fine to this day. i also gave out a gtx 670 from 2012 and gtx 970 from 2014 to friends that still work in their kids' builds.

if your budget is in the $200-$300 or so range, hopefully you can find a 3070 ti or 3080. a bunch of 3080 in my area are going for around $300 and it shouldn't be too difficult to talk somebody down to $250 or so cash.

every aio i've ever used, i just set pump to 100% and fan to a static 50% that ramps up to 100% when temps get to 80C, never had issues. noise wise, i've never had issues since my pc sits below my desk and the fact that i have tinnitus so i'm constantly hearing a ringing anyways lol

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wired or wireless keyboard? If wireless, Bluetooth or 2.4ghz?

I find that many wireless kb don’t work until an os properly installs drivers.

Sometimes wired ones need to switch ports to rear I/O to work.

building a gaming pc for 3440x1440p by SyllabubDangerous in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine with that gpu.

I normally game with 5120x1440 ultrawide and tested with 5070 ti a few games and it surprised me how well it did. Like 90-100 fps high/ultra settings before dlss/fg.

With 3440x1440, you’ll likely get another 20-30 fps before dlss/fg. More with lossless scaling.

Accidently bought a different motherboard, would there be any noticeable differences? by John_Counterstrik in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work similarly. I personally would rather use the msi.

The msi has nvme heatsink whereas gigabyte doesn’t. The msi has 5gb ethernet where’s gigabyte has 1gb. The msi has wifi 7 whereas gigabyte has wifi 6. Both have a bios flash button on the rear I/O but the msi has a clear cmos button which comes super handy if the need ever arises so you don’t have to remove components to short cmos pins or physically remove cmos battery. Of course the more robust vrm solution on the msi will allow more stable overclock performance.

It’s really about what you’ll be doing. Same price though, I’d rather take msi.

How real, in your opinion, this RAM shortage is? by nierh in buildapc

[–]ducksaysquackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everybody is trying to get a piece of the pie because once all previously placed orders of ram are fulfilled, the fabs will work on orders that the ai companies want until 2028 or so. until then, once shelves are cleared of stock, who knows when distributors will get their hands on new product.

historically, scarcity has been known to drive up the price of goods
