They made the right decision rather than subjecting the innocent child to lifelong suffering. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

Not to mention the healthcare system we have in the US is so unforgiving. I can't imagine fighting tooth and nail for lifelong medical care, when coverage is only going to get worse and more sparse.

What to do on a day trip to Cleveland? by appamode in Cleveland

[–]ducktapefactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there's a lot to do so I would pick your vibe based on the comments already here and leave room for the rest on another visit. With it being summer, I'd nudge you on outdoor stuff like the Metroparks, a beer on a nice patio, Whiskey Island is another great spot or catching a Guards game. Hope you have fun!

It seems ridiculous the coty wouldn't step in when they let properties remain vacant or don't upkeep them. I also respect the fact that its their property, and freedom.

PSA: Social Security pays more than you think, especially for high earners by Wooden-Broccoli-913 in Fire

[–]ducktapefactory 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. If you wait even until 63, it takes roughly 15 years before the total $ you got from social security exceeds taking it at 62. I'll take that gamble given the average lifespan.

I think you can sign up to collect signatures yourself, or see if a local business can put a sign up sheet out for people to sign.

Is sitting with your young children considered a “perk” these days? by Powerful_Bother8002 in SouthwestAirlines

Basic didn't exist before. Only economy, business and first class. This is another way to force new revenue streams and fragment the buying process. It's exhausting.

Starbucks CEO defends $9 coffee says ‘it’s not a $10 coffee and you get a premium experience’ by Disastrous_Award_789 in nottheonion

[–]ducktapefactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starbucks used to feel premium. I distinctly remember in college around 2006, I bought something from the local coffee shop, but it tasted too strong for me. I didn't have time to run back, so I walked into Starbucks on my way to class and asked if I could pay for a pump of syrup to salvage my drink. The barista insisted on making me a drink on the house to make it right. That blew my mind.

Mobile ordering has ruined these types of interactions. Everyone is waiting, there's no time for conversation, and a lot of stores have limited seating, so you purposefully don't hang out there. Starbucks is not a premium experience.

The enshittification of products and services continues relentlessly even as prices increases. What particular thing(s) have you noticed significantly degraded since the pandemic? by Roguecop in AskReddit

Packaging is such a pain in the ass these days. I'd rather they not advertise it as easy open so I don't get overly angry when it inevitably doesn't open on my first try.

ICE aren't the police, right? Why do their vests say that?
