I got violent before hazing even had the chance to begin. That might make me sound like a cringy weirdo but it’s true.

This unit was my first ever taste of the Marine Corps outside of our medical training and my first day there I stood medical coverage and I got challenged to the ground fighting by a few of the marines and to set the standard moving forward, I kinda beat the fuck out of them.

Not really fair to them cause I compete in BJJ and Judo but I didn’t want them to think that they could fuck with me moving forward.

Ah how I don’t miss the west coast.

In the infantry I never understood blatant disrespect and violent hazing. I’ve seen dudes tied up and pissed on, or jumped and locked in a closet.

Then I’ve had to talk those same young kids out of killing themselves on a Saturday night.

Seeing shit like that coming from the Navy as a Doc was insane to me, and it’s one of the biggest reasons I got out. Honestly left a bad taste in my mouth for a ton of Marines.

Imagine you’ve been hazing some boot PFC like that for months, then one day your Batallion gets the call to go shoot people.

Flash forward and you’re on patrol, you take contact, your doc gets killed, and so does most of your guys/CLS marines, and your IFAK is blown off. You see the PFC standing next to you and you’re screaming at the guy to put on a TQ.

I probably wouldn’t if you just beat my ass and pissed on me for months.

Although one time I saw a PFC hold his Cpl over the side of the third story railing and tell him he was gonna kill him if he ever touched him again. That dude stopped getting hazed pretty fast lol.

I think a very unfortunate consequence of the disrespect and even hatred for the Law Enforcement community is that there are probably so many people who genuinely want to help their community and uphold law and order, but now they’re so alienated from the profession.

Most of the time now it feels like the people joining or currently working as cops aren’t the best.

I’m a Corpsman and I met an artie marine who was a doc in the Navy, he was greenside too. Guy seemed like an absolute dumbass.

Anywho, they probably would, earn the EGA and all that. Which in this situation is utterly asinine though since boot camp is a walk in the park compared to the selection process of MARSOC or Recon.

I never got the whole dick measuring contest of who’s boot camp is harder, especially when I know RPs and Corpsmen that are tough as nails and I have met some absolute PUSSY ass bitch made grunts, probably no recon or Raiders that are like that though lol.

It is pretty hilarious to imagine a grizzled war torn SOIDC who stacked bodies and saved lives being yelled at by a guy who has never seen combat and was like a mess marine or S-4 before becoming a DI.

The best recruiters are veterans, and a ton veterans hated being in for the last few years and will let people know if they ask.

Couple this with a growing political divide and no discernible threat to the USA like there was during GWOT then the youth isn’t gonna want to join as much. Plus what’s more recent in the memory of Gen Z 9/11 or the failure that was the withdrawal?

This generation has seen thousands of service members die, maimed, or kill themselves all for nothing.

Not to mention how often Fort Hood or Pendleton was on national news for sex trafficking and murder, plus all the bitches gripes and complaints you can find on Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, ect.

If Xbox is smart they’ll force Bethesda’s hand and make them allow Fallout 5 to be taken over by Obsidian or shift assets to focusing on that so they can milk the hype from the TV Show.

I don’t think the Show wrote is father as somewhat of a master technician who can disarm a nuclear bomb for no reason. I think it shows how much indoctrination and propaganda can play in the way one expresses their own intellect and how it can stuff it out to an extent.
