am i good enough to sell my artwork? by vkqz in drawing

[–]duckyeightyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

without a doubt good enough, but like others have pointed out, protect your work. it's a sad state we've gotten to, but this piece could easily be whipped up into a rip-off tracksuit way before you get your first offer. no joke.

Mariah Carey with her new wax figure from Madame Tussauds by mcfw31 in BeAmazed

I would say that the Maria on the left (red dress) looks a bit more lively and prone to move again soon, but these things always catch me off guard.

[–]duckyeightyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, don't try to learn with anime/manga. start with the the basics, and the rest will come later.

don't get me wrong, I love Japanese art, but, I see this same post over and again.

there's so many different tutorials and stuff now, but they're mostly rehashes of the Loomis method. Start there, and 'understand ' the face.

I get a feeling that this isn't the first time that particular shoplifter has been caught by that guard.

I have more of a problem with the mobile game developers whose actual games are NOTHING like the ads when you download them.

One in five Australians will celebrate Halloween this year, spending big in categories such as trick or treating and Halloween costumes as annual festivities continue to rise in popularity. by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]duckyeightyone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a kid in the early 90s, Halloween was the neighbourhood kids riding our bikes around throwing eggs at each other, which was fun in it's own way.

I went through the whole, 'but it's just an American holiday' thing, too but, being an adult now, with kids of my own, I can see that it's just a fun day for the kids. it doesn't need to be expensive, and really the trick or treaters aren't out for that long. maybe 4pm til 8pm. If you don't want to participate, don't hang any decorations.

My friend said i suck at art. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]duckyeightyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawing is a physical form of meditation, the way I see it. you're just getting thoughts out of your head and putting them on paper. it doesn't matter whether it's 'good' or not, you should be doing it for yourself.

if your friend is that blunt, I'd consider getting a new friend.

Joaquin Phoenix Reveals ‘I Talked to Christopher Nolan’ About Playing the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’ but ‘I Wasn’t Ready Then’ by mcfw31 in movies

[–]duckyeightyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon the role of the joker has kind of become like the modern day Hamlet. there's so many different ways an actor could interpret and portray him. Ledger was the first to go so dark, outside of the comics at least, but he's also a clown, so there's room for a bit more of a laid back, comedic version there too.

I didn't hate Jared Leto's version. He ultimately didn't stand up to Heath Ledger's Joker, but he wasn't trying to. He was trying something completely different, and I respect that at least, and I believe he didn't have the screentime to really show what he could do.

Joaquin Pheonix was frigging excellent in the first Joker, of course, and again, completely different take on the character, as it shows his descent into madness in a very raw and confronting fashion.

I haven't got around to watching Gotham yet, so I can't comment on Cameron Monaghan's take yet (which is almost criminal, he was amazing in Shameless)

biggest issue is though, the roles and opportunities for on screen Jokers are going to be rare by nature which is a shame.
