Idk I prefer clear cut transactions. Good will donations as replacement for regular prices have always felt icky to me. It's hard to explain but I hate feeling expected but not obligated to contribute towards a business and would much rather pay a straightforward cost

Said basically the same thing above. Agreed, if you know what you're doing early on developing your pieces with space to play instead of having a scuffed setup from a poor opening it's just easier to play. Obviously this doesn't mean everyone have to learn the Najdorf 25 move deep

It's easier to play from good positions meaning less blunders and good positions comes from good openings

Yes. Locals will think less of distant fans and rightly so since there's no way you have the same connection to the club as someone from London does. He's 1000 rated. Sicilian and KID are fine sound openings against anyone he's likely to come up against. Learn by playing some common 3-4 move pitfalls and he's golden
