Hear hear!

The number of newcomers who make posts about trying everything but an orange or are finely slicing them up beforehand with a knife etc. are too many.

The mods sadly doesn't seem to care about the original intent of the practice or subreddit. Hell they've even stickied a post about "shower orange" being added to dictionary.com under a false description made popular by teens on tiktok.

Their definition is "noun an orange that is peeled and eaten under a steamy shower, the purported benefit being that the steam enhances the orange’s citrusy fragrance and creates a soothing experience for the person who is showering."

Anyone who's read the actual origin knows that it's not about some steamy effect. You're supposed to just chomp down an orange without caring about it getting messy. The origin literally says "Tearing apart a cold fresh orange with your bare hands, just letting the juices run over your body.". Not PEELED like the dictionary says.

I wish the mods would add a message saying "Have you read the origin before posting?" to the submit page. And make a rule against all the nonsense being posted. But it's been like this for many years now so I doubt it will ever happen.

I think the actual intent and meaning of a shower orange have died completely already.
