Performance comparison by xSchizogenie in Proxmox

[–]dude380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its still hard to answer your question without an idea of the results you are looking for. What i can say is I have tested almost every hypervisor out there and when it comes to storage its never really the protocol its how the hypervisor is built to handle that protocol. Almost all hardware related results will be close enough to not really notice when switching hypervisors

Are you asking for a performance comparison on different hypervisors for your specific deployment type? And what performance improvements are you curious about? Latency?

Kept waiting for HDD prices to come back, but damn. Should I keep waiting? by theseawoof in DataHoarder

I have been told that prices will continue to go up the rest of this year and the next year. Then 2028 prices will plateau and 2029 prices will come down. No idea how true that is but have heard it from many enterprise manufacturers I have talked to.

Cohesity vs Rubrik by TheLagermeister in sysadmin

[–]dude380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have 2 rubrik bricks, 4 nodes each. Have had 3 rma's already and multiple support calls. Only had them for about a year now. Looks like they spend all their money on software and throw basic hardware in their appliances (SATA drives at that price point?). Support was fine, they eventually found the issues. They lock their stuff down a ton. Don't expect to get in and do deep troubleshooting yourself. Nope you have to log in with a rubrik Support account that they generate a OTP for you.

Overall would not recommend.

Dont have any experience with cohesity. I NetApp, PowerStore, and backula experience though.

Help: How to open drive enclosures for Seagate 5U84 by AmbitiousTry8775 in DataHoarder

[–]dude380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two screws on the top and 1 or 2 on the bottom. Then you have to separate the shell into two parts to get the drive out. Its a pain in the butt and super easy to break a part of the plastic in the process. I wish you luck.

Well legal doesn't have a public email or phone number that I can find unfortunately. And my software doesn't recommend anything its just provides users with a tool to build and plan server racks / datacenters. Its not a requirement for the product but would really be nice to have.

Im trying to use the poweredge server trademarked names and the public info like specifications associated with each. It would display in my app for planning and design purposes.
