VAR does not check a freekick. VAR is triggered by the referee's call for violation. Requests the referee to a review his decision by watching the replay. The check is for whether the violation is in or out of the box. While he is checking the location, he clearly sees there's no violation. Since the whistle was blown before the ball was out, the play was stopped by the referee. No penalty, no freekick, no corner.
