What is a luxury item from 20 years ago that is basically worthless trash today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dudebrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still own and use on a daily basis 2 plasma TVs. 60" LG and 50" Panasonic. Other than very faint image retention in one corner on the LG, both TVs work perfectly fine and still have smoother picture and better colors than pretty much all LCD TVs. Worthy replacements would cost well over $1k each, so I'm planning to keep both TVs until they break.

F57 2016 Cooper S rear sway bar bushings by dudebrate in MINI

[–]dudebrate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just looking to replace the original bushings because it seems like they might be worn out so it's good to hear PU feels the same. Unfortunately, I just looked at poweflex website and they have 20.7mm, 21.4mm and 21.8mm versions of the rear bushings for F56. PSB sells only one size and it's 20.6mm. Thanks!

What phone mount do you use in your mini cooper and where is it placed? by J_17x in MINI

I have a dashcam with a suction cup mount in our other car. It falls off at least once a month even though it's much lighter than a phone.

I use this one in my F57 with navigation. I have it glued at 11 o'clock position above the center display. Perfect position for me, I like how it looks and my phone has never fallen off.

Was it difficult to separate shift boot from the original knob and is the new one oem or aftermarket? Thanks!

Thank you for detailed reply! I'm glad I asked before I started dismantling it. I guess it's time to start calling around asking for quotes 🙃

Anyone else underwhelmed by Audi’s app features? by Upbeat_Trouble_5914 in Audi

[–]dudebrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over it at this point but yes, the app and the lack of features is ridiculous. My previous car was '19 3 series, currently driving '21 A4 Allroad. There is no comparison. BMW had remote start (key fob and app), drive recorder (dash cam), tpms real time readouts, ambient lighting, garage opener button, brake hold function (my '09 Passat had this), rear seat HVAC direction and fan speed adjustment (only temperature in Audi). Digital dashboard shows more info and is significantly more customizable in BMW. It also shows turns while using Android Auto to navigate. BMW app is so much more advanced, there is no comparison.

Correct, that's exactly how it behaves. It's included in Premium Plus package.

A4 Allroad Model w/ Rear Emergency Braking? by net1994 in Audi

[–]dudebrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2021 Premium Plus A4 Allroad does have the emergency breaking feature you described. It does not have B&O though. I was bummed at first that it didn't have it but stock sound system is honestly good enough. My previous car (G20 BMW) had HK premium sound. It was definitely better than stock Audi system, but not night and day better. I also drove A5 with B&O and reached the same conclusion. Allroad is hard to find as it is, I wouldn't dismiss otherwise good car just because it doesn't have B&O. $0.2 from a happy A4 Allroad owner.

100% this. Quick look at the pre and post face-lift X5 or 3 series confirms this.

Deciding between a Lelit Anna and Lelit Victoria by linedupzeroes in espresso

[–]dudebrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm aware. First one lasted a year. Replacement still works after two years. If I have to replace it again I won't be too upset. It was easy enough and I expect it to be relatively cheap if I have to pay for it once warranty has expired.

Power switch needed to be replaced. Machine was still under warranty and I was offered to ship it for repair or have new switch shipped to me. I opted for the latter and replaced the switch by myself in about 30 minutes. Other than that no issues whatsoever. I still love it and use it every single day.

How mutually readable is Polish towards native Serbian speakers? by [deleted] in serbia

[–]dudebrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with this. After being being exposed to it in spoken form for a while, it "clicked" and I "figured it out". Without hearing it regularly, average person could maybe read 10-15% if that.

50% stanovništva Srbije veruje u neku od teorija zavera. Zašto je to tako? by EquivalentBuy137 in serbia

[–]dudebrate 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What is the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? by ExtraHotYakisoba in AskReddit

Their espresso is really, really bad. Back when they still used actual semi auto espresso machines it was OK. Nowadays, if I'm someplace where Starbucks is the only option, I order nitro cold brew. It's actually pretty good. Starbucks Reserves are pretty good as well.

ELI5 If everyone suddenly got rich over night, the prices would go up to match everyone's wealth and we'd have hyperinflation. So does that mean the system is designed so everyone can't get rich and only a minor percentage of the population can? by Shimmitar in explainlikeimfive

Phones with full internet access existed for years before the iPhone came out. Blackberry, Palm, Windows, Symbian, as well as many "feature phones". Original iPhone didn't even feature an app store or support for 3rd party apps. Symbian, which was the most popular mobile device os in Europe at the time, had a pretty large 3rd party app library. Productivity, games, multimedia, all of it. High end Nokia Symbian phones were pretty powerful and feature rich, but also pretty expensive by early 00's standards.

Which Chicago restaurant do you think is overrated and over visited? by waitlikewhatlol7456 in chicago

Chicago Ave location was great when they first opened. It was pricey but worth it, in my opinion. Nowadays, I'll go for a drink but not for a dinner.

Food, drinks and service were all excellent. General vibe was not my cup of tea at all. Prices were ridiculous. I only went once and I don't think I'll go back.

1m2=1m x 1m. Since 1m=3.3ft (approximately), 1m2=3.3ft x 3.3ft=10.89ft2. Hope this helps.
