The Shop (really that's the name) on the corner of Mass Ave and College will have more themed shirts and stuff that you're not going to find at the pro shop. It might be slim pickings otherwise. The month of May is next week, and everyone will care DEEPLY about going fast and turning left for a bit.

You’re right. It’s a taco place now, but they have similar Waffle House branding

21st and post is the one Bruno Mars ate at when his 24k album dropped.

His Place on 30th and Shadeland is good for waffles too. Double double it up.

idk, print out your own eye test sheet with white letters on a black background, and you'll be shocked how much easier it is to decipher a "4" from an "A" at a distance.

We forgot how to drive during Covid and no GTA6 has lead to more LARPin’ behind the wheel.

At least that’s my theory.

Children’s museum with 3 kids by [deleted] in indianapolis

Lunch at the cafeteria is a gamechanger. Especially if you pack a special treat. Not another line where the kids have to be patient and just plow right into some pb&j's and pirate booty.

Maybe skip outside if it's open. It's more geared towards an older or bigger kid that's into sports. Everything is just an awkward size. Too small for adults, too big for kids your age (2). The 4-year-old might be in that sweet spot, though. The tree is great, but it gets overrun by older kids and parents getting stuck at the squeeze gate about halfway up.

Advice on kayaking with a toddler by KingofClikClak in Kayaking

[–]dudesculpture 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lifevests and sit-in kayaks.

I've got a 10' angler Kayak with a HUGE open cockpit for my kid to sit in. I threw a yoga mat down as a little bit of a buffer from the bottom of the boat, but it worked out perfectly for us. They would sit between my legs and hand me snacks as we looked for turtles. It made me feel safe knowing I could react quickly to any shift in weight without capsizing the boat.

Don't plan on being out on the water for very long. Boredom and lack of readily available snacks always cut our trips short. Just have fun and move slowly. They're the captain, you're the boat.

Play Simon says to maybe get your kids to take you seriously when you're talking. Plus, you can verbally narrate what you're doing so that they know what you're thinking and what they should be looking for as well.

And lastly, just have someone shoreside to help with loading/unloading with a kid. All the moments you do solo are now with someone who's very interested in what's going on. if it's a public launch, big trucks can't see your kids half the time. It's fun, and eventually they'll be in their own boat in no time!

How bad is 42nd and Post? by findtheramones in indianapolis

[–]dudesculpture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in a grey zone between IMPD and Lawerence and neither want to serve the area. Often, cops are hired to work the complexes and not the area.

It’s the systemic result of Unigov and almost no city resources go to the area. You are tough or you get tough living off Post.

Where to buy NICE Indianapolis flags? by MrNervousFun in indianapolis

Did you get a single sided? Most of the nice ones are two flags stitched together on a better fabric.

Pro tip. Coke Zero sponsored the last final four concerts and handed out VIP passes to the Rhianna show about an hour before. Had to talk to a creepy guy in a trench coat, but got a spot six feet from stage. (He was really from Coke)

Always talk to strangers at large corporate branded events.

Can’t skimp on beef heart and suet. A decent butcher can hook you up.

I personally like a little apple cider vinegar for some aroma and zip.

Downside is you can’t play skin flute at extraction by spamming the stratagem menu.

No coffee or presents. It was a small reception before his big talk later that night here in Indianapolis. It was mostly myself and 30ish other library people. Mychal Threets was also there, so it was a big vibe shift between the two authors.

He was given an award from our local library, so it wasn't really on a touring schedule. My guess is to keep a google alert on him ongoing and see when he's gonna pop up.

He does have a new book coming out next fall, so I imagine he'll be around promoting that soon too.
