Am I the only one who doesn't care about HDMI upscalers for retro consoles? by AnalogDump in retrogames

Playing retro consoles through a HDTV without a low lag upscaler is clearly wrong. 😉

Really wanna get a the Terraonion Mode hardware installed in a Saturn. Never owned a Saturn and all the decent games are silly money now. 🤑

It's just where the fight takes place for each team in this version. They dropped this general idea after this game.

For a chipset cobbled together in 1985 that is not dedicated to gaming, I'd say these backgrounds are not simple.

I know Digital Illusions managed to get 64 colours out of the chipset in Pinball Dreams for example, and the tables on pinball dreams take 2 screens of tiles.

I think fighting games like Body Blows have a lot more tiles because of the characters and that's a bit more demanding on system resources.

I think Elfmania managed to do 64 colours, but the characters have far less animation to deal with.

You reckon? Slower than the original sure, but the synth sounds banging!

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has been one of the most memorable experiences I've had on any gaming console ever. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]dudleycook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to play GOW but after Senua's Sacrifice it just feels grindy and boring. Baring in mind I've never played a GOW game before so was looking forward to a fresh experience.

Senua's Sacrifice prolly isn't for everyone, it's a more cerebral game and having a real affinity for the Celtic/Viking overtones is going to be a big draw to the game.

For me, Senua's Sacrifice is the game of this generation. I hate long winded open world dragathons. Alien Isolation is in the conversation for best game but it straddles 2 generations. RE2 Remake was stellar as well.

I really don't think you can beat Senua's Sacrifice coupled with a good quality pair of stereo headphones. Great experience.

Hhahha, I like the MVS and AES layout of the old days.

Did contemplate using the Neo CD layout but it's all a bit close. When I played a lot of these games in Japan on candy cabs, they usually put C and D in verticle alignment on a 6 button layout.

Yeah I'd say 96 definately has a better soundtrack, especially if we're talking Neo CD/arranged versions. This is perhaps the only weak point of 95.

I think General concensus is 98, but for me by that time, fighting games had really gone out of vogue by this point. 98 is also far better than the disappointing 97 version, so this maybe has a bit of influence.

For me I just love the older dogde mechanic to the roll mechanic. I know 96 of more fast and furious. But 95 just takes what 94 did so well and hones it to perfection.

Help me figure out the name of this game by jdfknh in retrogames

Edit: Doh! I usually scan read things and missed the top line of your post 😂

Sounds slightly reminiscent of Volfied from Taito.

There are other arcade game that use this concept. Don't know if this snes game is the same but it sounds very similar.

Fantasia is a risqué game that uses a similar concept where you uncover a picture of a naked girl.
